I hope you did research on the guy that was chosen. Little Jimmy Dickens was a historic comedian/performer in the C & W genre. One of his greatest traits was he wasn't afraid of laughing at himself. He appears in many of Bard's videos and everytime I saw him, it brought a smile tpo my face (and heart now that he's gone).

I love seeing "newcomers" learning what country music is really about. Country has gotten a bad reputation for years, but really it's just music about everyday life. Anybody's life, no matter if you live in New York or Mobile, there are country music songs that will relate to you.

I always got a kick out of this song. Also, you all aren't really yankees. Yes you are from the Northeast but yankee is a mindset. I am from rural Kansas. I do a lot of work over the phone for my job. I speak to people all over the country. I have spoken with super nice New Yorkers and I have spoken to New Yorkers who act like I am an idiot simply because of my rural accent. The self righteous ones that act like I am an idiot because of my accent are yankees in the derogatory sense. I am a history nerd so I can go on and on about how the term came about in it's derogatory sense. Either way, you all don't give me the impression of being yankees because you seem like kind and considerate people. :)

Before Reality-TV there weren't really celebrities. I mean there was just..talented people who were well known and loved. I remember MTV had The Real World in the 90's and they had people being famous for simply being famous but it still wasn't really celebrity level because they weren't getting offers to appear elsewhere. I think around the time Paris Hilton hit the scene is when the celebrity stuff really kicked off, because here you had the daughter of a rich family and her friend with the famous father...being followed with cameras as if they were someone important. The papers, magazine, paparazzi started following their story, which was probably paid promotion and then everyone else started replicating that formula a million times. It's insane now, but back in the day you had to have talent. The further you go back in time, the more talented a person had to be. You couldn't "fake it 'til you make it", all singers had to be talented vocalists, even the actors had to dance and sing. You'd think this fad would end, but it still hasn't, unfortunately. If you ask me, Reality-TV and celebrities have really damaged society. Kids think their lifestyles are real and emulate it..and they become adults and raise children...which is even scarier.

But, before you do that, do a more serious one - "Whiskey Lullaby" will probably make you cry, yeah, and "He Didn't Have to Be" might have you a little misty. It's fun watching your reactions. I didn't grow up with country - I grew up in Pennsylvania and for the longest time I thought I despised country music. Then I moved to NC and, you know, actually listened. Redneck/country is a subculture, which is, shall we say, not prevalent in NYC. It's awesome you guys are expanding your horizons.

Bad Paisly either hits you in the feels or makes you laugh. Other songs I would recommend Speak to a Girl by Tim McGraw and Faith Hill.
