It’s a show. It’s fun. In reality, IB is a glorified excel and PowerPoint position for the first year or so. You never face the client on a multi-billion dollar deal or fight against other bidders or brokers like you see in other shows lol. Just hours and hours of updating a few variables in excel and summarizing it in ppt and word. Repeat. I work for a distressed arb fund in NYC.

Good video. thank you. The line I cant get over - "mediocrity is too well hidden by parents who hire private tutors" It fits the script that she would say that clearly exposing the chip on her shoulder. You wont find a professional athlete in the world that didnt have a coach, trainer, tutor that took that talent and honed it to another level. Speaking coaches that help professional speakers and Presidents, acting coaches that have guided the careers of every actor that has ever won an award. Even ceo's have boards of directors. A naive statement yes but filled with a lot - exposing her weakness.

just speaking from where she's coming from and as someone who can relate to that similar background I didn't have a tutor and was at the top of my class and that should be looked at a little bit differently..it doesn't mean a person got a chip on their shoulder to speak truth ... In the show I saw nothing from her character to signal she had a chip ....coaching is completely different than having a tutor in some kind of ways but the ones who do have coaches/ tutors will be looked at as if they got there all by their self just like the person who didn't have a tutor and didn't have a coach which can still hide real mediocrity indeed , there is truth there and to project vs take that in shows a chip on those who have a hard time accepting this notion .... so you might want to recalibrate your thought process on this to fit what was really being said....

And clearly a triggering remark for certain people lol Regardless, the character was 100 percent right to note her strength in being different from the huge amount of overly privileged ppl who gain entry into that finance world, helped in large part by their wealthy families being able to buy them the best education at the top schools - Schools that these major financial institutions tend to put on a pedestal. Love this show so much 🙌

It is competitive to get into PE - some people do so through getting an MBA or direct out of undergrad

This sounds like a nightmare. Work until 10 pm?! Does this even worth it? I know investment bankers are paid a lot but when you calculate it down to an hour is almost minimum wage. So my question is .... why?

It's the idea of delayed gratification - sacrificing your 20s/30s to make much more later on in life with better hours, but most still move on to different jobs after ~2 years

Hi, is Daria at Pierpoint a senior VP or executive director? She clearly has more authority than line VPs like Kenny and Clement. She was part of the committee comprised of senior management making the hiring decisions. This seemed unusual for a mid-level line manager like Daria, unless I missed something and she is really an executive director.

Typing quickly helps since a lot of the role is hands on keys, but you can still do the job if you're slow at typing. Yes, usually taking notes.
