If only you were around as an adult 55 years ago, you would have seen wooden modernized el trains on their wat to Bridge Jay Street Terminal in Downtown Brooklyn 4 blocks from the Brooklyn Bridge. My family and I rode it in 1968 a year before the Myrtle Ave el ended service to Downtown Brooklyn. The upper level station was used by those trains.

To Tell you the Truth the (Z) Skip-Stop Train only runs for only 1 Hour and that's Pretty much it & Fun Fact over 4 Years ago the (Z) Skip-Stop Train was actually Running for a Least 2 Hours until the Cutoff time the last (Z) Train
