Testing for hardness and performing a streak test will help you in identifying minerals. Also, you might consider heating the raw pay dirt to a level that will burn off the hair and garbage while sanitizing the rest. It should not hurt your crystals or gold.

my family has been in the lobstering/fishing business for generations and i was taught that you can tell if a pearl is real by gently rubbing your teeth over it. if it feels bumpy or grainy then it’s real but if it is smooth then it’s fake. obviously not foolproof but helps weed out the hard plastic stuff

Hey Shane. I've been watching some home refiners and have one suggestion. When heating your stuff up have another heatproof dish underneath your breaker. It helps with any possible cracking but then can save anything if something does spill out.

U inspired me to build my own system! I bring a bigger vacuum to gather more stuff and I bring an extra 3 batteries so I can do it longer. I’ve also added a cyclone and a picker on the end of the wand making the whole process much faster and so I don’t need to bend down too much. I also got a Miller’s table to filter out all the small stuff!
@Sam-fp8zm
@Sam-fp8zm Жыл бұрын
so what stuff did you find and how much did you sell the diamonds for?
@Klesh
@Klesh Жыл бұрын
Good luck 👍⛏ I find this small system works great for me, for a few reasons. Firstly it's compact and airplane friendly. I did have a hook attachment welded to the end of the hose, but the other hose was metal (for stability) but it makes the whole rig much heavier and less travel friendly. The Miller table process may work, just be careful you don't lose anything. The weight differences in the material are completely unknown and certain items may wash down unexpectedly quicker than others. I find hand panning, although tedious, is the best and most thorough way to be as sure as possible you're getting all the "good stuff".
@artbyartbyart
@artbyartbyart Жыл бұрын
@@Klesh yeah it looks like your system is perfect for the traveling and you’re very thorough. I love watching your videos for this reason. You have such a rad set up. There’s this older super chill KZbinr that makes the best Miller tables on the market I swear. His tables catch pretty much everything. They’re incredible. His channel is: @utahavalanch. I’m eventually wanting to scale up my system for dry river beds using a stronger vacuum system pre-screened with 1-2 cyclones attached. I know I’ll miss out on some bigger nuggets but I have a feeling I’ll end up making more $ in way less time. I’m hoping it’ll all pan out!🤙

Currently studying gemmology would recommend a loupe and if that’s a bit out of your depth just a normal microscope works , these will allow u to look into the gemstones . Synthetic moissanite will show double refraction and CZ usually has way to much dispersion and poor faceting especially noticeable on the facet edges (not the girdle of the stone) hope this helps 👍👍

I’ve sold crystals, uncut, for almost a decade. It looks like you’re missing a lot of potential opals. It hard to tell through the footage but there appears to be a lot of milky semi-translucent stones, those can be opal. It can be synthetic but worth checking out. Edit: I commented before finishing the video. Find someone locally that’s GIA certified. They can do a process through weighing the stones in and out of water that will tell you exactly what it is. Also, if you go to a guy and have some of the small stones set you may be able to sell the individual rings much easier, especially given your channel and popularity, you could market them easily.

Kinda cool that all the times you've been to the diamond district, you found some cool diamonds and gemstones. Pretty sick

Test reds with a magnet, red garnets can be dragged/picked up with a decent magnet, those will usually be pyrope, almandine or Rhodolite garnet. Orange spessartine garnet is also very magnetic
