As an LA native that’s been in nyc for the past 7 years I think you were so on point with this. The people and culture are definitely the main reasons why I left LA. The food, people, culture, and fashion are the best aspects of NY. But I want to warn people that are moving out of non major cities into LA or NYC… please understand that both cities are LARGE international tourist vacation destinations. With that being said, there are always people that will hang around the downtown areas (ex: inside of Los Angeles county and inside of NYC’s 5 boroughs) just watching and waiting to find an easy prey. So please always do your research of where you are going in/out/around these cities. And just because you are right outside of these areas, do not think that you are safe! Unfortunately this is just the reality of living in a major city in any part of the world. You gave an amazing safety tip of always looking around to take note of suspicious people, you explained it so well that I didn’t even realize that’s exactly what I’ve done while growing up on both coasts. Always be aware! And always carry something to protect yourself like mace for example. I hope this gives more perspective to anyone looking to move to either coast 🫶🏾

I really want to give California a try ! Mainly the weather ! I am over winters ! I absolutely miss the people of the East Coast but I am just entering my 30s and California just feels like it’s in the next chapter for me ! Everyday warm weather is right up my alley ! Currently in Washington state so I’ve gotten accustomed to the laid back West Coast lifestyle which I have learned to love ! NYC is just too expensive for me id rather pay for the sunshine 🌞

I have friends in CA who all say the same thing about the fake friendships. People kiss up to you if they think you can help their career or know the right people. NY women tend to be ride or die once you become friends. NY women are always working that brain power and know the value of their own career vs prowling for a Hollywood mogul to take care of them until he trades them in for a newer model. Not to say that doesn't happen in other places we know it does but in comparison to your two cities you get it. LA is Hollywood heavy in entertainment for sure. NYC is fashion, finance, publishing etc. I do know that due to those NYC cost many have moved across the bridge into Jersey and hop into NY each day for work. A friend of mine says it only takes her only 10 min on transportation from her NJ residence to her Manhattan job.

"People kiss up to you if they think you can help their career or know the right people" this exactly applies to NYC women too. "NY women tend to be ride or die once you become friends." and thie exactly applies to LA women as well. Key phrase is "once you become friends". Then they are not fake, either LA or NYC or wherever else

I’m born and raised in Staten Island, which is a totally different vibe, lived in Brooklyn, now live in Manhattan. And I absolutely hate what NY has turned into. There’s no unique style here anymore, yuppies/hipsters or whatever ruined the city, it just sucks all around in New York. However, the food is quite good.

i'm from the northeast and counting down the days until i leave NYC. i feel like big cities tend to attract narcissists and i've been feeling the effects of being around that terrible energy and negativity. and people here feel like they can get away with being rude because it's such a massive city, they know it likely won't get back to others that they know. i was at a coffee shop in tribeca the other day and a normal-looking girl in head to toe lululemon w/ a designer bag physically shoved me with two hands away from the counter so that she could grab her drink first while i was reaching to get mine. like i swear there's no other city on earth where people feel so comfortable being that rude. the nicest people that i know here are native new yorkers tbh. sometimes i feel like this city attracts the absolute worst of people from other places

So I really want to move to LA I’ve been living here in NYC for like 5 years. And I want to say this is the most brutally honest review about the two cities I’ve seen by far. So much so that you’re making me wanna stay here 😂😂 I really hate fake ass people and I’m known to be very blunt so idk if I’d be able to handle sunny side fake smiles lol. To be fair night life New York is very fake too the only good thing about it is the people here hide not liking you alot less. I really love the idea of wearing shorts whenever I want though because here ??? I would fucking never. Love this vid bbg 🫶🏻🖤Xx

As a native NYER. You had me convinced until you called our subway a Metro. 😱 That's a "No No" here. It's the subway. Also you're falling into the misnomer that we don't drive. Have you ever been on the BQE, cross Bronx or Major Degan expressways? 3am or 3pm they are always jam packed. I've been to LA numerous times driven on the freeways. And NYC traffic is far worse.

Freeways n New York r dumb, if u miss a exit gl u gotta drive like 10 miles to find a exit, hardly any quick fast food or gas stations , the traffic n NY is by far worse then u think, always horns honking , are to get around n a car, going by subway is the easier way but the subways r crammed n dirty also so gl, NY is dope but honestly there’s a lot of cons also.

@@Cerxts drivers and the NY ppl have attitude lol but I’m understanding one reason being bc of the constant overwhelming CROWD, everyone trying to get ahead of the next person.
