I hope so. There have been troubling signs of executive interference, corporate formula, and playing it safe, which are the death knells of creativity. The Disney Star Wars are very good examples of how bad things can get.

@@Klaaism Yes, all those pitfalls could still cause a disater and on top of that the show will be forced to make a lot of changes to transition Wot from books to tv shows. That is why, in my oppinion, the cast and their understanding of the characters is so important.
@Klaaism3 жыл бұрын
@@delete26em It certainly helps. Granted I'm still smarting after being burned on the last seasons of Thrones. Can be hard to guage an actor's understanding of a character, especially when studios work overtime to prep and control talking bits. Unfortunately even if an actor is an awesome fit, they really have very limited creative control unless a major celebrity with studio backing. Course the relationship between director and actors is paramount. Sadly alot of things can kill a show/film, they really are lousy investments financially, let alone if the final product is enjoyable.

I like seeing Rosamund speaking about Robert Jordan's writing and his books. It feels like she's become a a fan of the series and its world. It reminds me a little of back when Liv Tyler was in Lord of the Rings interviews, talking about Tolkien's world and learning the Elvish language. Everyone who has finished book one can pretty much guess there will be a scene at Dragonmount and/or Shail Gaoul near the end.... By book 5, several prophecies extract refer to it already and Rand thinks about it a lot. Contrary to popular opinion, Jordan was not really subtile with his foreshadowing (he was as heavy and repetitive about this aspect that he was with several others). Wheel of Time isn't difficult to read, it's just very long.

As a young girl I had read every fantasy series I could get my hands on. When the WoT fell into my hands through my glimpsing it at a WalMart bookshelf, I fell in immediate love. I had never read something with such depth and diversity to the cast and characters, where they all felt so real and so nuanced. I have been re-reading it now for the past 23 years and love it more every time. I know this show will not be the books, but the chance to see this story that has played such a key role in my confidence and my compassion building? I'm ever so grateful to Rafe and the showrunners and cast. And highly looking forward to November 19.

Love the cast. Henney is right. The Clip represents the first iconic moment when the small town meets the Aes Sedai. Done more dramatically in the Clip, but it worked superbly to get the moment across. It look far longer to accomplish in the book and wouldn't work well on screen with too much wasted time. This clip is sort of like a belly-flop into a pool. Makes its point in spades.

The show has only a few similarities to the books of the series. The dragon can only be a man in the books. That's why they mainly hunt for male users of magic. The fact that Moiraine loses her magic is not mentioned in the book, but Siuan Sanche and her assistant are appeased or lost their magic as punishment during the rebellion in the white tower. Another book series that is destroyed by the Amazon streaming service, just like Netflix did with the Witcher. Such a shame that people who don't have the creativity to write original work themselves have the opportunity and the power to destroy the beautiful work of others.
