You can rent warehouse/fulfillment space by the square meter for around 15RMB ($1-1.50) a month per sqm plus like 50-75 cents per order. The warehouse space is great if you want to fill a container or even just a single package with stuff from different suppliers because they will take delivery and inspect it and you can also have them do QC before putting all the orders together as one shipment. Another service they offer is ordering from Taobao (Chinese only Aliexpress) for you where things are another 20-40% cheaper but you have to speak chinese to order there.

I've got two stereo microscopes and an inspection microscope and never thought to do this. I don't do much machining though, just a homemade milling/engraver and a mini lathe. It's amazing how many of the older shops on the East Coast DO NOT understand the wisdom of providing good magnification tools for their precision shops. I guess they are just flat out cheap and they don't seem to be smart enough to realize it actually cost them more in the long run, but in tooling and bad parts resulting from not being able to properly inspect tooling during runs. It's not only about what you make, but just as importantly, what you keep... Thanks for bringing this to the forefront. Hopefully, shop owners watch your videos and learn as personnel... Great tool!

FYI: Printing is always either CYMK or ‘spot-color’ (I.e, a specific ink that is pre-mixed to a color before being applied) and emitted light (like from a monitor or projector) is always RGB.
@xaytana
@xaytana 5 жыл бұрын
Except RGB printing is somewhat of a thing. Although the only major company, that I know of, that was doing this has now shut down, look up LumeJet. They used photosensitive silver-halide paper, with an LED array that had tapered fiber optics that acted as a lense, with a claimed 4000 dpi, on their original LumeJet S200. They made a second machine, the LumeBar, that took the technology from a moving print head to a page-wide bar, which would print faster.

Xander Vice - Interesting, but not really what is commonly meant by printing - that’s more akin to a photographic process. 🤔
@xaytana
@xaytana 4 жыл бұрын
@@darkwinter6028 Except it literally is a form of printing. Do you also understand how a photographic process works? Because it's not similar in any way. There's already forms of printing that don't use ink, are you also claiming that those are not printing? Please, go educate yourself.
@darkwinter6028
@darkwinter6028 4 жыл бұрын
Xander Vice - Yes, I understand exactly how old-school non-digital photography works. I’ve also been in the processing room of an art department that had an Agfa Compugraphic imagesetting system that used a laser to expose photosensitive film for creating etching masks that are then used to create printing plates for an offset press (I happened to have been doing on-site tech support for their personal computer network - mostly Macs, with a few Windows machines for dealing with the rest of the company network - that they were at the time migrating to). I can still remember just how it smelled in there - kinda a mix of acetone and vinegar. I’ve also done the setup on a 1200 DPI laser printer (doesn’t sound like that much today, but back then it was the new hotness) that was used to create camera-ready art from their Macs onto bright white paper, as well as onto high-performance transparency film for direct use like the film output from the Agfa system was used (in practice the xerographic transparency’s weren’t as good as the photosensitive film ones, but they worked well enough for some things). Anyway... In this context, yes, anything that isn’t transferring material (such as ink or dye) onto the target substrate isn’t a printing process per se; even though it most certainly is an imaging process.
@xaytana
@xaytana 4 жыл бұрын
@@darkwinter6028 3d printing is still printing, using heat sensitive paper with a heating element is still printing. You do not necessarily need ink deposition for it to be printing. Remember when laser printers were new? Now you need to accept that RGB is new. Stop rejecting newer technology. Your kind of argument is akin to denying electric cars as vehicles because they don't use gasoline. Or denying autonomous vehicles as vehicles because they don't use a human driver. See where your argument falls apart now? You need to stop living in the past and accept modern technology.

I have a similar type microscope and have mounted it onto an articulating camera arm with grippers on both ends. With that addition, the microscope can be setup anywhere and at any angle. It becomes a very powerful tool to inspect things away from the bench. If the microscope has an hdmi out, connecting it to a small 10 inch monitor is helpful while maintaining portability. Assuming the microscope has a usb power connection, you can connect it to a power bank for remote power.

Also you have that hand eye coordination disconnect when looking up while soldering on a bench.

Instead of a Microscope i use Watchmaker Loupes (the ones you put on your eye so you can use them handsfree), generally a 5x magnification is good enough.. i also use these to set up my tools in the lathe. a Microscope that cheap can be a good solution though, but i'd make a Stand for it, where you can lower or raise the microscope by means of rotating a knop, either a rack or Threaded spindle driven kind.. A Watchmaker Loupe on the other hand, you can carry around in your pocket, and check tools even if they are still in the machine (and it's even cheaper)

You should also look at getting a telecentric lens (you can put it on any C/CS mount camera). it has the advantage that there is no perspective error, objects don't get larger as they move closer to the camera. With a good telecentric lens and a calibration slide, you can calibrate the scale in [microscope software of choice] and pull dimensional measurements right off the screen. The S-Eye software that comes free with a bunch of USB C-mount cameras is ok for this, though I'm sure there's better software out there. TC lenses have the peculiar property of getting more expensive with lower magnification, as the objective must be at least as large as the image space, but they're really fantastic for measuring small complex features accurately, such as when you can't get a CMM probe to fit in the feature.

@jestempies
@jestempies 5 жыл бұрын
You can't really print RGB because RGB is a light emission scale, i.e. when you add all R+G+B at full intensity it creates pure white. I imagine you could try to use it the other way around, but you'd still need to add black to the mix to get anything with nice contrast and blacks. I've never seen a full-color image be printed with anything other than CMYK, with optional extras like metalics or a specific brand colors.

Postage stamps are CMYK, like 99% of printed products. RGB printing is a fairly new process, that requires a specially coated paper, and uses LEDs through tapering fibers that acted as lenses for each 'dot.' I've been wanting to test it, as the technology was only available to high end industry, but it seems one of the major companies, if not the only company, had shut down.
