Wow! A remarkable display of dozens of different styles of sculptures, paintings, abstraction, realism and symbolic art. I'm amazed at how many people sum it up with "soulless" or "heartless"... did you watch the whole video? Are you saying every work featured was shite? There were some really exceptional works in there!!! Imaginative and creative and well executed concepts. My best guess is 99% of the people commenting negatively are jealous because these objects sell for more than they earn in a year.

I’m constantly amazed at how so much mediocrity can be arranged and exhibited in one vast space. It’s truly awesome. 28:17 I particularly found the eating area of great interest with its large waste bin. Thank you for sharing this, for taking the time to record it.

I think contemporary art reflects materialism more than ever. Materials from all kind more than paintings. Cubism, pop art and all melted together in postures, statues, tangible modern material art works. More dimensions than the flat canvas allows. Suggestive features are less. Hard to tell if this art, just by its obviousness, will last and will mount in value. Colors are not shouting which is good and tells us makers are conformist and at ease. It can't be otherwise that contemporary art in Europe is the opposite.

The trouble with this is that Russian abstraction was a reaction to the death and destruction of the first world war. It just went "off the scales" of human comprehension, and painting beautiful landscapes, still life, or other "pretty" subject matter seemed totally irrelevant, if not a mockery after all the carnage. Where this went off the rails is when other "artists" copied the style without the substance, without experiencing the emotional and spiritual trauma that originally went with this. And so has devolved into what you have today, mob rule culture by a bunch of hacks with all the integrity and ability of a monkey throwing you-know-what against the wall of his cage.

First impression is that it is huge, noicy and very difficult to focus and get a chance to be truly drawn into a work, but it gets a little better if one continues. It seems to be a lot about patterns and rhythms coming out of chaos and expressed through different media with different materiality and video screens with strange performances from nightmare into dreamlike visions or the other way around and some cartoonage simple narratives communicating directly and with humour about the human drama - “ what is it like to be human?˚And then suddenly a glimpse of stillness in some momochromes in blue and very special use of different kinds of materiality both in sculptures and paintings from mixed media with cement and other things on painting to glittering mosaic stones sculptures in all colors and then Dali inspired existential surrealism and it goes on and on more and more chaotic, noisy and desastrous - it can leave you longing for a different art - the art of humility, stillness, nature, hope and the breath of life

Agustin Cardenas was my grandpa's protégé. I visited him and went to his show in a chateau with a huge spread and a combo playing Bossa Nova. I dare say that the protégé who went to Paris fared better than the one in New York. There's a lesson there, I think.

Really enjoyed this tour. The quality of contemporary art has vastly improved since the farce of the noughties where the top galleries and action houses only sold works by a chosen few artist to restrict supply to inflate prices. Unfortunately for art, the chosen few were not very good, in some cases were laughably terrible. A scam that prevented some very talented artist from making a living. If you compare some of the works on display here with some of the works fetching millions of $ during the noughties, the difference in quality is staggering.

It's great that KZbin has different Playback Speed settings. Otherwise all the derivative stuff would be insufferable to wade through. It's nice to be able to spend longer time on the really interesting art (slow playback speed and freeze frame for those). The takeaway: there is "ART" and there is art. Quality is always going to be inconsistent.

It was all good but there was very few I would have picked if I was making a collection. I dont care for contemporary, modern or pop art that much anyway , but that's just me. If it's a contemporary piece done in baroque style , or a great portrait done in modern style , then I love it. For me the best thing I saw was at 58:16 both of those oils are by neils If I had the cash I would buy them on the spot . I also like the 3D faces made of sticks and the hologram sculptures at 12:00 , and 12:31. That's just me , but it was all great. 👍

14:18 I like this collage ! It has the feel of a painting with dynamics of a three dimensions. It looks different as your position changes. One sees the sides of each strip as light hits their angels with each step revealing each color in passing. The second passing isn't the same as the first as your mind can fill in what colors you have already seen. This feels wavy and ethereal.

Just HOW MANY visitors are at these kind of joints that have NO intent of buying, but more to bolster their own total and utter lack in talent by photographing the exhibits, going home and trying to copy what they've seen? I've heard it first hand from 'patrons' at the many Expos I've shown at. - - - "Oooooo, I have no talent whatsoever, so I just come to these shows to copy what I see!" - - - - -

I see it as people go for inspiration we as artists are nurtured by our environments we simply reinterpret the ordinary things we see with our own vision. each of us could stare at the sun. one sees a warm golden orb another sees the eye of god. each patron has his own unique interpretation of the same piece that in itself is a work in progress.

So what? How many artists copy famous artists? You might get free publicity from their visit. I was thinking that galleries must pay for the space, and I'm surprised at some of the gift store nature of some of the offerings. But, some look interesting. I'm curious about the selections and the pricing. Maybe our videographer can ask reps someday:)

A homogenized soulless perfection. You can really feel the impersonal corporate invasion of every aspect of life. Invasion of the soul snatchers. I am understanding the idea of commercial art better. We need to get back to our roots and our myths connecting heaven and earth. Inspiration .....nature gives it to us all the time. There was nothing but clever and perfect in this exhibition. Maybe what is disturbing is the disconnect to personal value . There is nothing more wonderful than to create , make , build. But when we forget that the art it’s self is a currency and we make it for money as some thing to be bought it loses its currency. When truly detached from the selling aspect and create from the heart, fantastic art arises , also in turmoil art redirects our daily creation of reality.

Completely agree! No soul or emotion in any of these pieces. I couldn't even watch whole thing

You all can look at 5:34 and literally not appreciate the work and creativity that goes into that ? You're totally spoiled . It's lots easier to criticize than to actually create

What’s “original” acrylic as opposed to just acrylic? Serious question...

@@fransiscozip1459 dude I have no idea what ur saying but art is art. Tools to make art do not matter. It's the way u see the world and Express it

'Original' means it's Not a Print, that it was painted by hand. Acrylic means it's not oil paint, but Acrylic paint. The artist is informing the viewer that it's an original acrylic painting, as opposed to an original oil painting. Basically also informing the viewer that it's not a Print.

It takes years and years to develop your skills and craft as a painter and to see some of this shit slapped together is frustrating. The shock value is more important then the skill and craft.

I thought 5:34 was just amazing, and lots of the other also. Perhaps you should watch again with a more positive attitude. There's some very created art there

Thanks for sharing this video. Subscribed. I wonder what medium the artist used for his elephant sculpture. I didnt see the tag.

It's sad to see how many artists these days aren't drawing/painting from real life but from reference photos. And can someone explain to me how the same old portraits of Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn, John Lennon, etc., keep getting made? Are people actually buying that?
