Lot of it was the fact that there was less choice on the TV when this was coming out - it allowed talent to coalesce into places where it could be used well. Now with the number of networks and channels out there , as well as all the various streaming services, you've got fewer pockets of talent that are able to find each other and get the money to make a show.

I always felt that Clark should have been partnered with Medavoy, while Baldwin should have been partnered with Andy. Then, the Clark Sr. animosity with Andy would not have been a factor, and Andy's interactions with Baldwin would have been interesting.

Naw Baldwin and Andys personality's would never mesh well, Medavoy isn't someone you would ever want to teach a green detective. Medavoy should never be one of the first 2 through the door nor should he ever be trusted with anything important. Medavoy is best served by interviewing witnesses and a certain type of suspect empathizing with their pain. Medavoy fkd up way too often, one such incident was the time he failed to properly search a suspect before placing him in the interrogation room which resulted in the suspect holding Andy hostage at gunpoint, that alone was horrible. Medavoy allowed a suspect to get the drop on him with a chair and jump out the window.
