At first glance, the series odds price was a bit head scratching.. but if you really look into it -Canes best/deepest team they've had, addition of Guentz and Kuz were massive pick ups at the deadlline -both teams have pressure, but none more than the Rangers and their NY media.. -vegas loves analytics and Canes are a byproduct of that -Svech is back (tore acl last year), and Jarvis has become a star in his own right Just a few thoughts, but this series is incredible. It definitely should go 6-7 games.

roslovic is just a plug on that line though. he fits in just enough so they can throw them over the boards. chytils scoring touch could be a big boost if hes ready.

They care about splitting the bets 50/50 to collect juice. Which should be even more telling since New York is such a bigger betting market than nc. Odds should arguably favor the canes even more

Chytil is our second center. If he is healthy he needs to be in the lineup. We are better than the Canes. They are close.

Everyone has the Canes winning the cup. I don't get it either. The president's trophy doesn't mean a thing so get off that. I think the Rangers have the goal tending advantage. But they're going to have to be as good 5 on 5 as their PP is. I personally wouldn't bet on either team in this one. One thing is for sure. This is not going to be a walk in central park for the blue shirts. Cant wait!

It's about last year and this year 5 vs. 5 they were middle of the pack but their special teams are top notch! Tro was the MVP of round 1 and 2 let's see.

In my opinion, playoffs have their own laws. People are already acting as if NY has no chance. I don't put much stock in statistics. If everything goes right, we can beat anyone. GO Rangers 💪💪💪💪

It boils down to the 5-on-5 expected goals per game ‘advanced’ stat lol. Why many base judgments with particular stats boggles me. Not enough correlation IMO

I think the analysis as a "body of work over 3 seasons" is exactly the wrong reason that Carolina is favored. Try the fact that what these teams did in october through december is now pretty meaningless is more like it.. Since then, the Hurricanes have played much better than the Rangers. Secondly, the home game advantage tends to be almost insignificant in the playoffs. The rangers have struggled many times at home because of the pressures on home ice. I know, Ive watched every game of the last few years. Having said all that, the only thing that concerns me is that clearly the linesmakers WANT you to take the Rangers. I find that concerning, but still totally rooting for the Rangers. I don't know how much anti-Ranger sentiment there is outside of NY but I dont think there is. The other part of this is that there is still the idea that does go back to last year as well as this and that is the Rangers are mediocre 5 on 5 and have relied on great special teams for their success. I think what they are missing a bit is a couple of things.. First, when the Rangers came out of their pre-all star swoon into a 10 game winning streak, those 10 games their special teams did not do much, yet they found a way. The other is that up until this year, winning faceoffs had never been a priority until now. And that is no small thing. How many times have we seen that quick win and Panarin turn it into an instant goal, something he almost pulled off in the Capital series as well. On one other side is that the Rangers being the only team to sweep their first series would mean a bit more if they didnt do so against what was clearly the worst of the 16 teams to qualify. The Caps got in because Philly collapsed, plain and simple. And Detroit came a close second in collapsing while Washington had a shortived Ovechkin revival and a number one power play in the last part of the season, both of which vanished in the playoffs and the Rangers arent getting credit for. So, overall I just think this series will be close to a tossup, and any team who is an underdog in a 5050 situation is a valued bet, let alone I will be rooting for the Rangers as well.

I think one overlooked advantage for Rangers is coach. Lavi pushes all right buttons and players have all bought in here! One of many ironies that he’s playing against Canes where he won Cup in ‘06. Two top teams, but Rangers are deeper, coaching and goaltending better, and just feel this is a team of destiny! LGR!!!

Despite winning 2/3 in the reg season the Rangers were outscored 7-4. The games they won were 1 goal games that could have gone either way. They lost 6-1 at MSG. Vegas is right.

Media praises the Canes for scoring on the Islanders who had the worse penalty kill in the league and a, statistically, bad defense yet the Rangers are being questioned for scoring on a Caps team who were just as bad on defense. Rangers in 6. Better coach and better goalie.

Thats good. Lets keep that underdog rep going. It will just us stronger. They should just keep Chytil out of playoffs. He hasnt played in an entire season. He's a liability at this point. You cant be away that long and still play at the same level when he left.

The good news is it means nothing. This has been a pretty good matchup for the Rangers during the season. It’s going to be a tough series no matter what but I see no reason the Rangers can’t win it, even if it takes a long series to get it done.

This is my humble opinion. Gray hair says we got “bounced” it went to Game 7 in a series that shoudve been us. Carolina vs New York was destined to happen last year. It didn’t. This is a brand new year and completely different team than last year. We’re the ones to be feared this year. Not Carolina. That’s the difference. Last year sure I think Carolina was going to beat us regardless if we beat the devils or not. Last year…. Not this year…. Just not this year… like I said. I really believe we are the team to fear this year.
