I remember sitting in front of my telly, waiting for the first band...and it was Quo...playing "Rockin' all over the World". I burst into tears straight away, because it was so perfect. I started shouting out "YES...YES"...! How typical of Quo to be so humble and unassuming to agree willingly to open the show....as if they could be mistaken for a support band.... For me, that was the only song to open with. I loved it... and the rest of the day...AND Queen ! Lovely memories for me now as a near pensioner.

I was 14 and watched it all at home too- I was raised on Quo and Queen so it was perfect to have them- as well as the bands of the time. It was a wonderful day and I’m glad to have been there for it. It’s lovely to revisit it.

It's often forgotten that Queen didn't just play their old hits but actually played two of their most recent hits, "Radio GaGa" and "Hammer to Fall," with both going down a storm. It wasn't just that Queen played the old and familiar, the tracks the audience knew, but that they put on such an outstanding performance. Quo are a fantastic band, too, and opened the event perfectly. No one could have done a better job, great great band.

Freddie on his peak, I would say. Freddie would probably outclass any big artist with his stage charisma on a bad day. Brian, Rodger, and john are great too.

I really enjoyed seeing Cold Play, play bitter sweet symphony , but Quo was my favourite . I never really like Rocking all over the world . Not sure if it was because it wasn’t their song or if that entire album mix on LP sounded like crap. Who mixed it ? The drums sounded like they were recorded in my kitchen and the bass was non existent . But , I love you guys 🤣🤣🤣

Are you sure the money did get to Africa? And if so, which part of Africa? The starving people or elsewhere? And why Ethiopia, which was one of the three poorest countries in the world at that point, turned out to be the country with the best armed army on the African continent? Geldof never gave any account on how the money was spent. He was knocking on the table, insisting ''Give us the money!'' and then gave the donors and the whole world a big middle finger. That's how it was, Mr May. ''There wasn't any joking for position.'' ''And there was complete lack of this sort of ego stuff....'' Well, that is absolutely laughable. Everything cool, no egos at all, except that Boomtown Rats and Ultravox were swaped in the last moment, so Geldof could perform in front of the royal party which was there just for the record and was going to leave soon. And when Midge Ure finished his set and went backstage, was cynically asked ''How does it feel to be shafted by Bob?'' (by his own words) Ok, great day for Queen, no question, but obviously Brian May, as well as many other people, never tried to get to the bottom of what he was involved in. Maybe just because he doesn't want to get out of his comfort zone. And his comfort zone is what you see here. There are countless such videos - sitting on the couch in front of the camera, telling nice, wise, ''positive'' stories or in the best case, showing us how to play the solo of Bohemian Rhapsody. That's what he does over the last 25 years. However not all of his stories are really correct. Here's an example. It's fucking sad to spend the half of your lifetime in the shadow of your past, fooling yourself and the audience that you develop something when you actually profanе your own legacy. In my youth, being fanatic Queen fan, I would have never ever imagined that I could be so sick and tired of this guy. Remember what Freddie Mercury told Jim Beach before his death: ''You can do whatever you want with my legacy, but never make me boring!'' Too bad for Brian...

I wonder if May is equally as proud to have played in South Africa during apartheid? I wonder how much of the profits they donated after Queen albums saw a huge resurgence in sales following Live Aid.
