Six months before I was born, but Durkin's call of the 1994 Travers is, in my opinion, one of the greatest calls in *sports* history, not just horse racing. "But there's cause for Concern…" "as game as a racehorse can be, Holy Bull, WHAT A HERO" Incredible stuff. I also point to his 2006 Preakness. It doesn't get replayed because it was tragic, but that was an absolute masterclass in broadcasting. Called the race like a pros pro while never leaving the main story.

Great interview. Love all the content you’ve been putting out at Saratoga for the Belmont racing festival

How crazy busy is it going to be do you think? I have been to the Travers and wasn't prepared, LOL my first time going had GA ticket and no seat with me so I'm ready this time. Do I need to get there super early or just as soon as the parking opens? I bought parking right across from the gate. My wife and I just want a spot to plop our chairs and cooler down lol

What a legend, absolute best, my most memorable call of his when I was in attendance at Saratoga on a Saturday and it poured before the last race of a maiden claimer, the pace was too fast, race fell apart and the longest shot on the board won the race, a horse called Ess Shape and the inflection and suprise he called it with sticks in my mind and the true New Yorker sitting next to us in the grandstand won 2500$ on a 25$ bet and was in hysterics. Great day

Lots of race callers blow a call -yes Mind that Bird was awful for Tom -go listen to this years Derby -Colmus missed Mystic Dan’s move on inside of last turn-Still think Durkin is the greatest race caller.
