NYT: Third woman accuses Andrew Cuomo of unwanted advances

A third woman has accused Democratic New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo of unwanted advances in 2019, The New York Times reported Monday, adding to an escalating crisis facing the governor in the wake of two sexual harassment allegations.
The woman, Anna Ruch, told the Times that Cuomo approached her during a crowded wedding reception in New York in 2019. Ruch told the newspaper she thanked Cuomo for his toast to the newlyweds, and in response, she says he put his hand on her bare lower back, which the Times said was exposed in an open-back dress.
When Ruch removed his hand, Cuomo allegedly told her she seemed "aggressive" as he put his hands on her cheeks, she recalled to the Times. Cuomo then asked if he could kiss her, Ruch said, and she distanced herself as he came closer.
"I was so confused and shocked and embarrassed," Ruch told the Times. "I turned my head away and didn't have words in that moment."
The newspaper also reported that Ruch says she was later told by a friend that Cuomo had kissed her cheek as she pulled away.
The newspaper reported that her account of the episode was loud enough and could be heard by a friend standing nearby, who corroborated the exchange, along with photographs from the event and text messages at the time. The New York Times did not identify the friend in its reporting.

As a woman I think it's imperative we differentiate between a man with power making unwanted advances towards a subordinate and a man making a pass at an unknown female in a social atmosphere. One is inappropriate and punishable from a legal business prospective, the other is part of society's mating ritual happening in every social atmoshpere in the country by both sexes and from my experience easily controllable by the receivers of the action. Let's stay real here people or we'll be seeing a serious decrease in our population going forward.

That decision caused vulnerable people who perhaps otherwise would not have caught COVID to die in mass. Full disclosure here, I'm a NY'er. In general I've not been a fan of Governor Cuomo (I thought he DID make a good A.G.). I DID think he did a good job on the pandemic response. However, If these accusations are investigated and found to be legitimate, then sure: start asking for his resignation. BUT! can we PLEASE let an investigation happen before assuming he is guilty? I would agree with you perhaps with the one person at the wedding he made a move. and even the wedding thing, is kind of bad reading of a situation from cuomo: It's obvious that the woman doesn't like to be held by cuomo and his behavior was bad long enough for her friend to take a picture. And women can make it known, if they like to flirt and if they don't. But I can concur that if Cuomo isn't her boss or otherwise in a position where he can destroy her career, then the remedy would be for cuomo to apologize for taking liberties. And I would never like someone I just met invading my personal space the way Cuomo did with her in that picture. with the two other women its more clear cut: he was working with them in a professional capacity and in those situations flirting or sexual jokes or making advance on a woman is not really appropriate in any kind of situation. If he wants to date, he could go on a dating app or ask friends to introduce or if he really wants to date someone he met trough work, he should perhaps ask them out, with assurances that he would not take offence and would totally understand if they said no. And anyone he has any direct influence over their livelihood he should never even try to date. If he wants to date a person working for him, he could resign from his position. Dating becomes a bit more difficult when you are a governor, but he knew that when he took the job.

Well my experience was worse. I tried to handle the situation, and was told by HR, to just put up with it. Male coworkers volunteered to be my witnesses for a lawsuit, the harassment was that extreme, but female coworkers said I'd never work again, if I sued. I had to find another job, because the stress was ruining my health. It is not a matter of self esteem, it is a matter of the power structure, and the governor of a state has a lot of power.
