They don't use a random piles of siding types and materials. And they don't have those horrendous temple-scale doorways made of plastic foam. Developer built homes may share some aspects of McMansions - looking similar to each other, and in some cases being bigger than the average house, but sharing some similarities doesn't make two things the same.

Meanwhile all over the world people struggle to pay their rents and mortgages, and they expect an actually useful and cost effective home. McMansions prevent good quality useful homes from being built. Hope this cleared it up.

Some architects do not like the style ,well that's their opinion . In the Hamptons a lot of people rent out the homes when they are not there . So the market for rentals is the big house with a pool. Vacationers spend money on eating out and tourist attractions . So again the local economy benefits . Problem? The locals see their house values rise .Problem? Some people don't want a bunch of rich people in their town because it can negatively impact their own life. For example, rich people have very different spending habits than working class people and they can and will attract companies that cater to them. Sometimes this makes living more expensive for everyone. When rich people are moving in those areas this also creates a class division that hasn't been there before locally which most poor people wouldn't like, obviously. And of course, many people will be jealous. Jealousy isn't good or nice but it is understandable that people who work to get by in a shabby one-story building get mad if suddenly a pretentious McMansion sits directly in front of them, including a bowling alley and snobby people. But fact is, if more money is around the whole area becomes more expensive, and people who don't have a lot of money used to profit from living in rural areas where they might need less money to live. They lose this advantage and might need to move if they can't afford living there anymore. I don't want to blame the guy personally, he does his job and makes money, but his actions may have negative consequences for the people living there, and he doesn't care.

Those houses don't really look like they are in the greatest shape, either they are very old or poorly built. Looks like they are about to collapse,...

The burdens of the super-rich, such woes and issues they have, I believe we should ease their Pain by giving them more money through tax breaks to help out these struggling people. Before you say I'm some kind of leftist nut job, I make a very decent wage each year and I'm single so I live and do quite well on my own. When you have good health, family and friends, you're doing well imo.

Technically if you make more than 30 thousand a year, you are part of the 1 percent in the world. Congratulation, according to Bernie Sanders and what's her face you are a part of the problem. Lol

Lol at all these people trying to cope...muh bad design..muh cheap construction...go out and build the house you want then. So many people have something to say about things that shouldn't even matter to them. And half of you are just mad this guy makes enough money to buy your family...good on him. I hope he makes more and build himself a new house twice the size. Ill be tending to and making my own money.

He is right, They do need him. Because of the pensions, Taxes, and the need for more work job. The problem is he doesn't have to be so arrogant about it. People can overlook a lot of things. For even to the point of being crass and rude. Long as they are getting something out of it that's more beneficial for them, That being said, The one thing that people will not overlook the long is being arrogant, No matter how much you bring to the table. They would rather not have it. Same thing going on with the president. Arrogance!

I always have these fears of living in a big houses. 1 is what happens if there is someone else in the house and I do not know about it till its too late and 2 is what if I have an urgent call of nature and need to go to the toilet and its too far away.

Those McMansions look bad with bad architecture, are poorly constructed, bad design, tasteless, fake luxury, are uncomfortable, a waste of space, are rip offs, and are ruining the landscape. He only wants money, and gets it by building and selling these buildings.
