Great video again Den. Looking forward to seeing some sun in your videos now winter is approaching here in Blighty

It's going to be nice to get some warmth back again Sean. The days are getting a little warmer, but the nights can still be quite cold, so the fishing still hasn't reached its normal productivity.

Thanks Clive. I took it out again yesterday to another river and as before, it performed really well. I did use the line clip during the initial phase yesterday and I wound the line around the clip in a full loop instead of my usual way of simply putting it underneath the clip. I have to say, that I'm not a fan of having to do that but it's about the only thing I don't like about this reel so far. In fact, after this video, I went out and bought another one.😁😁👍👍

Another great watch Den but you need to invest in a stiffer landing net handle methinks. The fish you were catching certainly put a bend in yours. I winced every fish. Nytro tackle is very good in its price bracket the new Marvelist reels are as good as reels twice the price. My only gripe with their rods is handle length l prefer short handles on short rods.
@FishingwithDenАй бұрын
Thanks David, the landing net handle does bend doesn't it, but I've had fish over 20lbs in it over the years, so I feel pretty confident with it mate.

Reel looks good, glad you got rid of the extra hook.
@FishingwithDenАй бұрын
Yes. I've used it 3 times now and I think it's a great value reel. Only time will tell if it is robust enough to last me the 3 years or so that I normally keep reels.

Great vid once more. Nice to get honest feedback on products. When I first saw the river I thought that does not look the wide? Bit like the Warwickshire Avon until I saw people walking on the opposite side. Hard to see how the rig that the fish was on got broke up? I fished a local lake to me and got caught up on a rig with about 20mtrs of line luckily it was barbless so whatever broke him up got away. They had a 45 ib Sturgeon in there.
@FishingwithDenАй бұрын
Thanks Phill. It's about 50 metres wide at that point mate. I don't suppose the venue you are talking about regarding the Sturgeon was Hawkesbury Hall in Bedworth was it? They used to have one around 36lb in there before I left the country. In a match, you would get 10lb added to your weight rather than its real weight. That fish could be caught 2 or 3 times in the same match because we had to release it straight away. 😁😁👍👍

@@FishingwithDen No Brookfields fishery off Hospital lane in Bedworth? I have caught two small ones and they are the weirdest things to see and touch.
@Offcut55Ай бұрын
@@FishingwithDen No it was Brookfields fishery on Hospital Lane I have had 2 from there not huge but the strangest fish I have ever caught and they feel strange too but all power that is for sure. Both did a tail walk to lose the hook but I Got them in.
@FishingwithDenАй бұрын
@@Offcut55 I remember them being 'front end loaded' Phill. They were so long it was difficult to get them into the landing net.

@@FishingwithDen Sturgeons are long-lived, late-maturing fishes with distinctive characteristics, such as a heterocercal caudal fin similar to those of sharks, and an elongated, spindle-like body that is smooth-skinned, scaleless, and armored with five lateral rows of bony plates called scutes. They are prehistoric looking and all muscle.

can I ask you a question is it bigger than the Matrix 5000 Horizon reel or the same size ?🎣🎣

Can't help wonering Den,but what other species is in the river? If you changed your setup and bait to suit,what would you be likely to catch?
@FishingwithDenАй бұрын
Hi Stan. From a British/European perspective, it's pretty much all Carp mate. The water is still brackish because it's tidal, so the other species in there tend to be sea fish. There are some Mullet, Flathead, Bass and Eels, but they tend to be more seasonal. We don't have any other European species near where I live.

Are u using a 200gram feeder rod for those feeders
@FishingwithDenАй бұрын
No Vlad. It's a Free Spirit rod which is rated up to 160 grams, but I wasn't casting far and the rating for it is very conservative I believe.
@theimpaler5034Ай бұрын
@@FishingwithDen yep mine are 150 and I use 45/50 gram + loading someone told me I need minimum 60gr ILund 45/50 does the job on the river thank you
