i can't get over this song, the dance, the singing, the poi, the guitar, the harmony. I'm completely transfixed and I never want the melody to end. i hope this is what Heaven sounds like b/c I could listen to this forever. That girl's voice is EVERYTHING! Me ke aloha... mai Hawai'i mai!

I just got back from NZ. and the schools we visited did the poi dance for us and we would dance traditional native american dances for them. it was beautiful to watch, they put so much hard work into this and they put love into each performance. dont go to a show that does this for money, it feels as if theres no emotion and love. if you can go to a school, now there you can really feel the spirit in this dance.

+Caitlin Brendon I lived a year in NZ and participated in the cultural competition they had called the haka wero. It was a lot of fun and a great experience. I went to Kaitaia College, you can see 4 of the 5 performances for the haka wero on their facebook: www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=m.facebook.com/kaitaiacollege/&ved=0ahUKEwjt_4DZxqLWAhUCxoMKHa19BKsQFggmMAA&usg=AFQjCNFusHQHiGEHQIksDTUmhl-5QqBlDQ They are under videos and I was in Trigg.

Caitlin Brendon Please understand when Māori people do Kapa Haka they are not doing it for money. They are doing Kapa Haka to represent & acknowledge their heritage, their culture. People here do not say "Oh let's do Kapa Haka so we can make some money" that's absurd 😂 Money or not, Maori are going to perform and its all out of emotion and love! Take Te Matatini (worlds biggest Kapa Haka stage) for example. All those groups do not simply stand that stage thinking they're doing Kapa Haka for money. It's mana and it's aroha!!

_egas calybird as a Maori person living in London, I’d like you to consider the fact that Captain Cook , an Englishman, killed thousands of my ancestors when he “discovered New Zealand”, swapping nails for sex with young Maori women, disrespecting and killing chiefs ,men ,women and children, bringing diseases that devastated our people and our land. They fought our traditional weapons with guns and cannons. Educate yourself please! Furthermore, the moriori people were also Maori, they were not there before us.Most likely Maori and moriori interbred and therefore are a part of one another. The New Zealand pakeha government used “Maori people eating the morioris” as an excuse to justify what they were doing to the Maori people at the time. I’m not saying it’s not a possibility that they did eat them either, but you must also know that the eating of people was a ceremony of respect where the mana (spirit, energy)of the slain person was absorbed through consumption. This does not justify the NZ government stealing our land
@kittycat-kg4dm6 жыл бұрын
Jessie LEEFE you’re no less Maori than anyone else just because of the colour of your skin! I belong to ngati Ranana(search us up!) a Maori performance group in London and everyone looks different! I have blue eyes! And I agree ,Irish culture is just as rich as ours x
