@@christiancatley4120 I also happen to think that Tom Latham has his favourites. It has been evident during the test series in India and this one here in NZ. He will always go to Southee and Henry if the new ball is given, and poor old O'Rourke is then side stepped in favour of them. Unless NZ work out who is of value to the team, on all surfaces, selection and who to bowl in those critical stages of a game will continue to be flawed and cost them series wins. Latham dropping catches doesn't help either.

Conway has been out of form for a considerable period, yet he played in the first two Tests instead of Young. I am baffled as to why Santner was not included in the playing XI for the first two Tests. It simply defies logic from a team selection perspective. New Zealand could have potentially won the first two Tests had a team comprising in-form players been selected, as they demonstrated against India

Follow ons in general are very rare nowadays. Much more common in the past. It's also likely that Latham simply never got the chance to think about it because the last few wickets fell suddenly. They thought the lead was going to be less than 200.

Stokes, as captain, has mostly done good for England but he has made some unbelievably daft decisions too. Like choosing to bowl first here after winning the toss and not giving Bashir a bowl. And then the batsmen played irresponsibly (dead rubber syndrome?) and now England are staring at a big defeat. Such a bad end to a series they dominated. But I guess most England fans won’t complain as the series is won (first in NZ since 2008. Now the only country England have not defeated away since a long time is WI - 2004) But sterner challenges lie ahead. If England play like this against India or Oz, they will get thrashed. Also, they need to get couple more good new ball bowlers. Hoping Archer and Wood will be available for at least some part of the India series and for all of the Ashes.
