Petes Thename no the one isn’t equal the dk. I think it was heavily implied in the most recent chapter when escanor couldn’t escape the death zero darkness which the land form dk used on the sins. If he was stronger, he should’ve been able to resist it in HIS STRONGEST FORM easily but he needed merlins help to help them escape and nothing suggests otherwise. I’ll give him props for managing to resist it better than the other sins showcasing that he is stronger than most of them but the fact remains that he struggled to one of the dks strongest magic and couldn’t escape it by himself. The icing on the top is that his cruel sun did ZERO damage. You can argue that escanor is stronger as a physical fighter, which is why his cruel sun wasn’t as effective, but escanor wouldn’t even be able to get close to the dk because death zero will keep him at bay. There is one thing for certain tho, is that escanor ties the dk in a physical fight and far surpasses the dk in physical strength in the one ultimate. Mind you, both are very impressive feats considering he only had the grace to work with and his life force.

Escanor's strongest form is The One Ultimate. Not The One.

Escanor is a very strong character and he's arguably the most entertaining character in the series. That being said, Escanor the one (not the ultimate one) is NOT dk level for many reasons I am about to list: 1. Only meliodas could destroy the curses in his dk form. If Escanor the one was dk level then they would've waited till high noon for escanor to destroy the curses before. 2. Escanor the ULTIMATE ONE has no answer to death zero spell which the DK used on the sins. He managed to resist it better than the other sins but he still couldn't escape it without merlins help. Nothing suggests otherwise. So a weaker form called the one mode wouldn't be able to resist the spell either. 3. The dk saying that the one was fighting on par with him should be taken with a grain of salt. First character statements are inconsistent as hell so nobody should solely rely on character statements to back up their arguments. Second the dk didn't use magic. When he did use death zero against the sins, well you saw what happend. Escanor the one is as strong as the DK PHYSICALLY but nothing else.

Man he got one shotted to the death realm and back in his prime by the full powered Meliodas assault mode. Also the DK is much stronger than The One Escanor because sunshine is the only power Escanor has and sunshine is one quarter of half of the supreme deitys powers. It is stated that the DK and the SD are roughly equally strong so no Escanor was never stronger than the DK. The reason why he could fist fight with the DK was because the DK had a much weaker vessel than his former vessel Meliodas and he was not in his true body, only half of his powers (10 commandments) were there. Later on when he took Britannia as his vessel ULTIMATE Escanor needed the support of all the sins especially Meliodas to beat his ass.
