Wow! A lot of angry people! I hope this budget helps you all find some peace of mind. There will be more funding for mental health so feel free to get the help you need with those anger issues. Like all budgets, most will be paid with the same tax money people pay now. This government's budget is considered to be 'fiscally conservative' with surpluses expected. The National party always claim to be the more money savvy of the 2 main parties but Labour actually has a better track record for producing budget surpluses. With spending on health, education and housing, with a focus on reducing inequality in NZ, the majority of NZers will benefit from this budget. Whether you all realize that or not, through your anger induced daze, and with the National party's negative spin, the country is being set up to become a lot better. The failure in Venezuela, a country that is now run by an authoritarian dictator, has not had a functioning democracy like that of NZ in a long time if ever. The oil rich country based it's economy on the sweet natural deposits that were stored underfoot and gave handouts freely without proper economic management of the money that was coming in. As soon as oil prices fell, their entire economy started to collapse into the state it's in today. You do not need to worry about that happening in NZ. It's a completely different situation. The NZ economy is far more diversified and the government goes through rigourous scrutiny with select committee, business leaders and nonpartisan groups before any policies are enacted. So stess less and I hope you can all live happy and fulfilling lives.
