Being a long-time user of the SpinMop, Version 1, I have become accustomed to changing out the water often as to avoid soaking the mop head in extremely dirty water. That said, I did see a youtube video suggesting placing a small pail, filled with clean water, inside the existing Version 1 bucket, essentially converting the old spin bucket into a dual water version.
@TheCleanLoft Жыл бұрын
for sure its good to dump the dirty water often as you mop. I disagree with that hack though mainly because the extra pail does not have an outlet to bring in fresh water like the new mop (blue bucket). So what happens when you come back to rinse your mop the second, third, 4th time, the water will already be dirty. So I would rather use the new model.

Great review! Thank you! A $20 difference in these tough economic times for a brand new mop is pretty significant. It would have been nice if O-Cedar had an upgrade kit for the old mop version. I would easily pay $20 for an upgrade rather than buying a new version where every accessory I have doesn’t fit.
@TheCleanLoft2 жыл бұрын
I hear you and understand where you are coming from, an upgrade kit would be a good idea too. In case you missed this, for the accessories the extendable telescopic handle can be used on both mops. Thank you for the visit and for commenting. 😊

Had the original Easy Clean mop…only used it about 2 times before giving it to the Resale….didn’t care for the rinsing issue of using dirty water. Have moved on to the Libman cleaner wipe stick with reusable, fill your own spray cleaning solution bottle. I think a lot of these choices are based on how you particularly like to clean your floors…there is room for ALL styles of clean-up gear. I choose easy pushing without drenching my floors, which are 40+ year old maple, throughout the house. Thanks for posting your review!!

I got the Rinseclean version and love it, so nice to have a single bucket and still use clean water constantly. I did my entire house without needing to fill the clean water again. After dipping it in the clean water I would try and shake off most of the water back into the clean water compartment and i only used the spin part to get rid of the dirty water after mopping each section

You have the best explanation of how this mopping system works!! Thank you so much!
@happygirl658 ай бұрын
I bought the cheaper version and I use my own bucket for clean water. The only complaint I have so far is that the mop head doesn’t have enough fiber on it and if I’m not careful then the plastic part scrapes against the floor or the baseboard. Almost like nails on a chalkboard.
@Jules-7404 ай бұрын
One more point to consider is how easy it is to clean and reset your bucket. I like the old mop for that reason I believe it would be much easier to clean the bucket since there are less parts to clean. ALSO I actually appreciate and prefer that these mop buckets don't have wheels because it is so light weight because it only fills up so easy with only a little bit of water. It is easy to carry it around SUPER easy! I will admit at first before using this system I was thinking I would have liked wheels/castors, but since using it it is so light weight easy to just carry it.
@verygoodbrother Жыл бұрын
Having wheels will make the stepping mechanism impossible to use. Unless you have wheels that you can lock in position. However, that will add size and bulk to the mop making it more difficult to store for those with limited space.

That’s not true. I have a 360 Spin Mop that has a dolly for the bucket and it’s stable enough to step and spin the mop. You’re also holding it in place with the mop as you spin. It works rather well but mine is old and doesn’t spin as well anymore, so I’m looking for a replacement.

I've always wanted to try one of these spin mops. My hardwood floors don't get that dirty because I take my shoes off at the door and that goes for anyone who comes into my house. I like the idea of the new one but have the old one. I change out my water with every room so I basically use new water the whole time. I don't like the idea of an even smaller mop head cause I think even the old one could be bigger. Great review though and thanks!
I do something like this... I bought the new version with the clean water tank but still use a separate bucket with water to rinse the dirty mop before using water from the clean water tank. Does that make sense? Anyway, I have tinted concrete floors and I'm just looking for a cleaning solution that won't streak. If anyone has suggestions, please let me know. I've tried: vinegar, fabuloso, pine sol, ammonia, Mr. Clean, and bleach. No matter how clean the water is, the floor still streaks.

I used to have a sponge mop and hated it. A friend has the original spin mop and I liked the idea of spinning the water out. When I went shopping I saw the new version; being able to rinse the mop in clean water every time is worth the extra money to me. The original version is too much like the sponge mop, swirling the dirt (and cat hair) back onto the mop head and back on the floor.

I used to use Swiffer but I bought one of these and not only do I find it cleans better, but it’s faster and much cheaper. The Swiffer pads and cleaning solution is the killer for Swiffer. The version I have is made by Vileda but it’s exactly the same as your O’Ceder models. I’m in Canada so maybe they have a different name here. I find it amazing and I’m encouraged to clean more often with it. It is so quick and easy to clean now.

If I understand correctly from Do It on a Dime lady (KZbin), Dollar Tree carries a simple trash pail that fits inside quite well so you can have clean water.

I'm familiar with that hack, but I don't recommend it. The issue arises when you need to rinse the mop repeatedly-on the second, third, fourth, and subsequent times-since you'll end up rinsing with increasingly dirty water due to the lack of a proper outlet for the used water. If you're seeking a consistent supply of clean cleaning water, opting for this new model is a better choice.
@martimheurich55939 ай бұрын
I have the old one and have always rinsed my mop in a sink thoroughly and used the bucket to spin it before it goes back to the floor so my floors aren't soaked. May try the 2nd bucket as suggested, but I still think the dirty mop is in contact with the clean water. Am I missing something?
@martimheurich55939 ай бұрын
Great video, BTW! Thanks!
@nyceguyatl6 ай бұрын
No, you aren’t missing anything. Everyone seems to be overly enthusiastic about this “hack” to put a bucket of clean water in the old Spin mop container but once you mop the floor, the mop is dirty and dipping it into clean water makes the bucket of water dirty. This has never been a hack; you may as well use the Spin mop container as it is. Unless you plan to change the bucket constantly or rinse your mop in the sink after each round of mopping (both are inconvenient), there is no real advantage to using a separate bucket.

I’ve used both and honestly I’m annoyed the newer version has a smaller head and therefore not at fast as the older version. Also the water runs out quicker in the new version, but at least I know that it wasn’t dirty water I’m using. With the older version I did have to rinse out and get new water twice but then again it wasn’t my own house and the floors on that home were mad dirty. In this case I think the older version was actually better because I didn’t run out of water half way through the living room which would have been the case for the new mop. I own the newer version and for the small area in my own home to mop I think I do like the 2nd version a lot more….also since I got it from someone else I didn’t know the handle trick 😂 so thank you….now I know why the handle looks weird. To those who are debating which is better….both do a good job, for the price I suggest the older version.

By the way, I saw you have a wooden floor, is it not soaking wet when you're mopping your floor? I have both tiles and laminated flooring..For Tiles, this is not a problem but for my Laminated floor is not so ideal..even though how many times I am spinning the mop, still to wet. In the old cedar + plain spare spare pail scenario, you're wasting good cleaning solution because you're spinning it into the dirty water. I don't care about having two o cedars; I dont travel far from them. Plus I dont have to keep adding solution to my wash bucket in the newer model. That would drive me crazy.

Bought the new one. Not sure if I made the right call now. Still dipping a dirty head back into the detergent compartment. Now new water does come in and dilute it, so it is cleaner. Need to dip and spin in the detergent water, and then dip into detergent water again for mopping. So, it seems like: I'm wasting some detergent water when dip and spin. Awkward to fill. And it is not balanced when lift up the whole thing by the handle. If handle were other direction would help Awkward to empty the clean reservoir if you didn't use it all. Must use that one style of mop head. And I ran out of water before I was done. 6 to 7 quarts maybe. I saw an idea with the old one: just put a bucket inside the old one.that separates it. ... An extra bucket even w this would maybe help Again, this is small area use if don't want to empty and refill. Fill this new one w just water for rinsing. Have a side bucket with solution. Dip into solution (side bucket) lightly, or dip and spin. Mop Dip into rinsing (o cedar ) and spin. That rinsing water will stay cleaner as it refills. Maybe do this twice to keep head clean. Back to solution bucket and repeat. May still be a good idea to go over again w clean water. Use up the water in the o cedar, or dump solution bucket and put clean water in it. May need to empty the main buckets dirty compartment.

I prefer powdered tide with a splash of bleach

Be careful mixing bleach with other products though. The chemical reaction may not be good.

I have two of the old versions and I wouldn't have it any other way. Here's the advantage: After I dunk the mop in the clean water, I spin in the clean water and don't waste good solution. In the old cedar + plain bucket scenario, you're wasting good cleaning solution because you're spinning it into the dirty water. I don't care about having two o cedars; I dont travel far from them. Plus I dont have to keep adding solution to my wash bucket as in the newer model. That would drive me crazy.
