When I struggle with depression, I listen to this beautiful arrangement and sing it as a prayer to our Lord. Music has always lifted my heart. Your music in particular is a blessing to my heart! This is a beautiful arrangement, but please consider working in this traditional verse as you develop for future use. It is one of the most remarkable and profound lyrics in the history of English hymn-writing, and captures the emotional and spiritual jewels of the Kingdom and Christ's extraordinary love, written in nature as surely as in scripture. Would deeply appreciate this gorgeous setting including it at some point in the future.

nice music. But look where they are!!! In the Sanctuary?? Wasn't the Altar in their way? it shows a Choir loft. That is what a choir loft is for. The Sanctuary is not a place for the choir.

You’re so right - sadly the choir loft couldn’t hold the group so we had to get permission from the priest. Since this was not done in Mass, we were granted permission. The intention would never be to be irreverent or to cover the altar - rather to give God our hearts in worship. Thank you for your point, it is a good one.

I heard this hymn at the funeral of a friend this week sung as a recessional. The tune was so familiar but I could not place it until I went to You Tube and found its history. It can be associated with Princess Diana , sung at her wedding and funeral , that's where I heard it. Found that its in our church Hymnal, OCP Journey Songs ! We will be adding it to our liturgy soon. Thank you for posting so many versions, especially the Dave and Laura Moore rendition

I first knew this melody from Holst’s “Jupiter, Bringer of Jollity” as a music student in college orchestra. At the time, I noted that it had a very hymnal type feel to it. Just recently I learned someone put worship lyrics to the melody. As a Southern Baptist, this hymn is a breath of fresh air in all the mainstream worship music. Even though we may disagree on some things, we are all still children of God. Blessings be to you all.

Today at the Eucharistic Congress I sat front row directly in front of the choir as a concelebrant. Completely unhindered view. When this was sang as a recessional I wept for the first time in years. I stumbled upon this arrangement of Thaxted during an extremely trying time of my priesthood back in March. It was a privilege to have such an intimate seat and to hear this arrangement live. It felt as if I was the only one in the stadium. Thank you for your ministry.

The British Patriotic version of this hymn "I vow to Thee My Country" is an anthem often sung at momentous, historical occasions like Charles' Coronation, Lady Di's weddeng and State funerals.

The hymn was composed from Gustov Holst from the turn of the century 'Planets' this particular arrangement is known as Jupiter. This was the soundtrack from the movie production of original Conan the Barbarian with Arnold. It became a patriarchal anthem in words among the British following WWI and later as a solemn hymn presented here.

Thank you for giving credit where credit is due. This composition was by Gustav Holst in 1914 to 1917 as a tribute to his favorite subject: The Planets..and this section we hear was dedicated to the planet Saturn..later..the musical lyrics were written as a commemorative song to honor British Patriotic tribute to its soldiers who forth in WW1..then again the lyrics , the ones we sing in Christian churches was by Michael Perry, a member and composer for the Church of England..
