@@aidannodommI think the former makes more sense. It was a musical essay on Russia and their people, and Orthodoxy is very integral to the culture. This represents their distress and the plea to God for assistance in their time of need, followed with the struggle and climax and the jubilant finale after they are delivered from their national peril.

I'm roman catholic, but I love very much orthodox songs. And this is one of my favorites. In far past my ancestors were orthodox christians, and I'm thinking about to back in my ancestors faith. And maybe I'll do it ..

I'm in a similar boat! I grew up catholic but have some personal reasons for leaving. Orthodoxy seems like the natural direction to move in--the mysticism of it is very similar to catholicism, I think.

''Habitation" dwelling, living place, house. Orthodox worship only God. Icons and the cross they venerate, they don't worship icons or the cross. The Greek 'Latreia' to worship, is reserved for God alone. The Greek 'Dulia' to venerate or respect is for Saints, Icons, the Cross, etc.

Gee, this is the Holy Orthodox Church! What you are seeing is the original Christianity!:) This is how prayer was originally said! This is how religious services were conducted. The music itself will carry you, and your soul, away to a heavenly place. All time stops, during Liturgy. It is Heaven on Earth!:)

You bible punchers fail to realize that Icons aid in the instruction of the Faith. When illiteracy was rampant, the Icons told the faithful the Scripture. Study the early Church Fathers.
