I'm not going to dig out Neil yet. He didn't imagine coming in and playing Mitchell LM but the squad is so injured and thin right now. Without 5 attackers who are injured, connolly isn't fit yet and haven't replaced Esse. We couldn't score any goals even with all those players so watching their backups is painful. Hope Danny and Lenny are okay both of those looked really bad injuries.

Cant put this on Alex Neil at all, you said all the players are league 1 so how is that his fault? I believe he is very good manager and needs time and his own players before we can judge him imo

Angelo, I’m sorry mate, but a lot of this can be put on Alex Neil. He wanted to play with a back 3 against Hull, had a newly signed 6’4 CB in Crama sitting on the bench but instead put a 5’7 LB in Bryan there instead. Why would any manager do that? That’s a 9 inch shortfall in height in one of the most important outfield defensive positions in the back 4 (or back 5). I was genuinely hopeful when Neil took on the job that his footballing success of getting his previous clubs promotion was going to be a step up from the likes of Rowett and Harris, but what’s really changed? We’re still unnecessarily punting the ball up field and still passing backwards when we find ourselves in a promising forward attack. There’s little to no confidence in the side (with one or two exceptions) and our ball control and passing is still extremely poor. Many of our players seem to panic when they have the ball and can’t wait to get rid of it, or they find themselves in a position to attack the final third but snatch at the ball and balloon goal attempts wide past the post or high over the bar. Players footballing intelligence hasn’t improved under Neil’s management either. How many times do we see a lovely cross beating the first defender and floated over to the back post and there’s nobody ever there? How many times are players unaware of their team mates being around them, and not pass to those in better scoring positions? Happens all the time. The biggest cardinal sin in this side is our players inability to control and dominate the midfield. When we get into a game of head tennis with the opposition we don’t seem to have someone who can trap a ball and pass our way out of trouble. Balls are either headed back, or chested forward or whacked away up field for the opposition to gain control of again. At the moment I don’t see Neil or the players turning around our current slump in form, and I’m genuinely worried where we’ll be in the league once we’ve played our next 3 games against Luton, Portsmouth and QPR. We’re only 5 points off 22nd at the moment and that could easily be made up by Luton and Portsmouth if they beat us. Worrying times ahead.

@ I actually agree with almost everything you said but he must be given a chance to bring in his own players and he has inherited these players which we all can agree are not very good. The man needs some time and some of his own players. He has 3 promotions under his belt, we must be patient with him. He’s learning about his current players I’m sure and he will sort this mess out that he has inherited

@@angelomilioto5227 Thing is Angelo, we only have 2 weeks remaining to get these players in (if we can get the right players, that is) and they won’t be Neil’s players, they’ll be Gallen’s. The problem with permanent or loan players coming in this month is that most of them won’t have played much, and are probably not match fit. That was certainly the case with Connolly when he came on against Hull and it was telling that against Cardiff last night, Neil favoured Langstaff over Connolly. We can’t carry passengers at the moment and need players who are match fit ready to come into this side for the fight that’s most definitely ahead of us. Everyone says we’re crying out for a CAM, but what’s the point of getting somebody in like that if the rest of the midfield around him is as poor as all of them are? One player in midfield isn’t going to make a difference, especially if RBW is now out with hamstring problems and there’s no sign of Azeez or Emakhu coming back soon. We’re going to struggle against Luton and Portsmouth, and the best I think we’ll get is 2 points from those games. I hope I’m wrong and we bag all 6 (or at least 4) but player confidence has to be at rock bottom now, and we have no creative or flair players in the team that I think could win the Luton and Portsmouth games. What happens if this slump continues and we find ourselves drawing or losing to Plymouth (away), WBA (home) and Preston and Derby (both away)? We could be in the bottom 3 by the end of Feb, so what will happen then? It won’t be Berylson or Gallen taking the blame for this, it’ll be Neil. If he’s sacked who takes over? Does Harris come back AGAIN to save us? Whoever is in charge by the time we face Derby away, we have more tough fixtures in March against Bristol City (home), Watford and Leeds (both away), Stoke (home) and Sunderland (away). All we can hope for is that Azeez, Coburn, Emakhu, Leonard and RBW return fit ASAP and can stay fit, otherwise I think the spotters and league 1 will be calling on us next season.

@@andrewroberts299, seriously mate, we all want what’s best for Millwall but Neil’s only had 4 games. He can’t instill footballing intelligence into a player. The player either has it or he doesn’t. Most of ours don’t have it. The answer is that they become well drilled and that takes more than four games.

I think it’s a bit harsh to have a go at Neil. I do think it’s concerning that we saw no sort of “new manager bounce”, but I at least want to see what he can do with new signings. The thing concerns me more than Neil is the fact that we’ve not signed enough players this window, and I’m not even really hearing any rumours about us interested in players. Then you read about Derby making signings from the continent, Hull signing a quality L1 striker, Luton making big signings, etc. The teams around us are strengthening their squads but we’re sat here with £20m profit from player sales refusing to spend. That’s far more concerning than the manager for me.

They equalised through individual errors, this isn’t Alex Neil’s fault, you say he isn’t the man to take us forward, who is then? Said the same about Rowett, who we finished top 10 3 years in a row, now look what he is doing at Oxford and people still weren’t happy. Harris had a good run and fans booed our club legend out of the club. Deleted club and start again? How about get behind the players. Some fans are the problem, they aren’t fans, they are just critics. On the positive side, Williams is looking very sharp and I was impressed with Crama. No luck with injuries of both McNamara and Leonard.

I agree with everything Kieran said. apart from tanganga,jenson,B Williams and scanlon the rest of them players are mid league 1 players at best. I haven’t seen anything from AN but I do ask myself the question. what can he actually change with this awful team? I don’t think he will be here that long. give it 4 more games and he’s gone guarantee it. He needs to realise that a lot of these players don’t actually care about him and they are only picking up a wage. He needs to be more ruthless if he wants to be in a job in the next 3 weeks

Over the years we have over achieved with a league one budget and now were being found out , a rebuild is never quick easy or pain free ,Esse and now possibly Williams surely shows us rebuild the team around some good youngsters and get rid of the rest which wont happen overnight . Have to totally disagree about the manager he helped the rebuild at Preston and Sunderland and used a lot of the younger players ..its not like we were spoilt for choice when Harris left ( sorry but a shit time to leave aswell ) .we need to show the aggression we had in the first half for the whole game ..fight up to the 97th min not just in parts of the game .its so typically Millwall .Coyl

I don't think Alex Neil is to blame with Rowett. Edwards and Harris and now Neil the common denominator is the players most of them aren't good enough for this league if we survive a massive clearout is needed no sentiments in holding on to players massive rebuild needed out of the current squad only a handful are good enough for the championship so the board need to make funds available on tonight's performance I don't think the defenders looked comfortable with the formation and we had to bigger gap between the midfield and front players hoofing the ball to a lone striker is wasted back to the drawing board for the next game hope Danny Mac and Leonard are not to seriously injured but we need to get behind the players to booster the confidence coyl

These players went eleven games unbeaten under Harris, so they are good enough for this league if managed and motivated properly. The fault lies with the club senior management, something is very rotten within the club. Harris and Rowett might not have played free flowing football but they were good at over performing in the Championship, sadly it seems staying up is no longer the priority. The Berylson/Gallen vision is Millwall as a nursery club finding, developing, and selling young players. What does that do for morale? And the long-term unemployed Neil - derided by Stoke and Sunderland fans - seems a strange choice till you see his comments on the acquisition of a new centre back “ if we’re trying to create assets and we want to try and develop the brand of football” Note the priorities of the club - develop assets is first. And unlike Harris, Neil will play who he is told to. We miss John B (RIP).

There is a lack of pace in the side and as the game goes on it becomes more of a problem when trying to break a side down. The pacemen are all injured. Azeez, Emakhu, Major and now Williams went off and Coburn,our striker,got injured at Oxford and went off at halftime not to return. Ironically(especially given your revival) it was our dreadful 2nf half defensive tactics at Oxford ,when at 1/2 time we were in complete control at 1/0 up and to replace Coburn at the interval he brought on Bradshaw with 5 goals i 51 games and strapped up and we,deliberately,sat back and that was the beginning of the end for Neil Harris as his tactics were believed to have cost us and that is why the Millwall fans booed at the end,even though we were 8 games unbeaten and it has been downhill ever since.

Harsh boys. Neil has inherited a shit sandwich. Loads of injuries , more this evening, too many old players who are past their best. New acquisitions who aren’t making their mark. Our best player sold. Vultures circling Tanganga. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that our form dropped off just before Harris left. The players got wind of the conflict behind the scenes between him and Gallen and got wind of his impending departure. He was a lame duck manager at that point. Harris knew the deal but he’s dropped us in it rather than press on with the job. We’re League 1 bound where you’ll get the club delete and reset. This club has been limping along for the last four seasons. I avidly follow your contributions and I can count on one hand the number of times that you have come away from the ground buzzing over the last few seasons. They need to make a couple of good quality signings and a host of loan signings to cover the injuries. What a mess.
@DanielWynn-v7b
@DanielWynn-v7b 15 күн бұрын
How has Harris dropped us in it? Do you have a brain? Maybe if Harris got given an adequate squad, maybe if Harris got some players in the door who HE WANTED not who THE CLUB WANTED, then he wouldn’t have left. Maybe if fans didn’t boo after 9 games unbeaten and a draw away at Oxford he may have stayed. You’re the same person who said Mick McCarthy was the manager when we got promoted to the old first division, you haven’t got a clue about this football club you claim to follow. Even your user name shows you don’t know this club. “True Blue”, No Millwall fan has ever referred to us as the blues. That’s Chelsea. Go back and follow whatever club you followed a few years ago, you new breed fans aren’t required.
