You're welcome! I know a lot of people ride without armor, but after a few crashes I've had I won't ride without it!

Yeah that spine protector is pretty substantial! I've done a good bit of sliding on mine and you can barely tell it's been in the dirt!

Thanks for the review. Just ordered it from TMS website to Montenegro (Eastern Europe) - $40 with shipping. Avoid Amazon worldwide shipping for this product, they asked $120 just for postal fees.

That's an awesome suggestion! You know what, it actually is starting to "break in" a little and is getting slightly easier to take off. Mainly I just tug on the armor and not the mesh to slide it off. It's still a chore, but it's better than shredding the mesh like a burly stripper!

I haven't heard of the pod gear or dark guards. I feel more comfortable with a full armor jacket because it doesn't have to be really tightly strapped to no slide around. I think this might fit alright under a jacket, but the armor is fairly bulky and may hang up. I find that problem even when removing my backpack, it sometimes catches on the armor pads.

Bought 2 sets at Krismas - one for me and one for my 11 year old son. Got one size above recommend and they fit good but snug. We wore them under our jackets all winter riding our snowmobiles now he's on his CR80 and I'm on my quad and we haven't had any issues with the armour even after some good crashes. Thanks for the tip!

I recently got the nameless version of this armor for $35 since the TMS one was out of stock everywhere, and I like it a lot. I'm 5'6 and 125lbs, I ordered a large since I wear a medium. Everything fits well synched up, aside from the kidney belt (28 inch waist), but that's an easy fix by adding a bit more Velcro too it. Big thanks for the information on the armor eveRide!

That's a good idea! The zipper on it isn't TOO bad... I just wish it was a thick and sturdy one like on the tactical backpack. I just have a sneaking feeling that if this armor wears out, it'll be the zipper that goes.

Hmm, it's all important to have, as it's usually never one specific part of your body that gets banged up in a crash, but the whole thing. I've had crashes that would have crushed my leg/foot without boots, destroyed my spine without a jacket/armor, and busted my jaw without a DS helmet. It's a tough call. I'd get all of it as soon as you can. It's all important.

Bought this jacket a bit ago to wear when I commute. Flows tons of air. Quality is decent. Take the time to set up the straps right the first time. Also for a bigger guy like myself one sleeve at a time is the only way this thing goes on right. Also to ease taking it off slide the elbow cups off first then take your hand out. Makes it waaay easier.

cnthunder9 Those are great tips! How have the shoulder zippers held up for you? Those were the only things to go bad on mine, and it happened within a matter of days. However I didn't see them as vital at all, and the rest has held up nicely.

I'm thinking it being tighter and hard to get off your arms may be a good thing because it will hold the armor in place when you hit the ground and protect you better. What do you think? One question... do you wear the leg armor protection?

I also bought this armored set and I love it. Now I ride street (looking to getting a dual sport in the next year or so) but it's way too hot out in southern California for a jacket. I bought this armor set and bought a nice Dirt bike jersey for an added layer of textile. The amount of breathability is astounding, and makes riding in the sun not such an inconvenience.

Danny that's not a bad idea! You should watch the "envelope system" video in my DCAM series. I would get a bike first... because if it doesn't work out you can sell that bike for what you bought it for. Armor that you wear... not so much. Then again, people would probably buy this armor for $80 used on craigslist because they have no idea how cheap it is new! :)

I have this same armor for street riding I put it on then my leather jacket over that for skid protection might seem like a lot but the mesh would shred on tar and the armor protects my spin and elbows from major impacts which is what I wanted there were leather versions of this but the mesh was so much cheaper and a jacket over it works perfectly

Quality may be hit-or-miss on any of these... I generally like to go with a brand with at least a few reviews, even if it's a knockoff. You can always check reviews on Amazon and then see if there is a deal on eBay. My guess is that even without the TMS (or Fox) badge, it's all made in the same factory.

"shredding the mesh like a burly stripper!" - That's the video KZbin needs to see, eveRide. The baby powder idea just comes from using it all the time to get my rubber gloves on in the shop. It's usually the moisture on your skin that's making stuff stick to you, so the baby powder loosens it all up. Even with the sticking thing, that armor is a friggen steal.

+eveRide ADV - Thx for checking in with me. I liked the look of it when it got here... until I studied the zippers. They were really poor quality, with damage already visible, especially the zipper for the back protector (which would see a lot of use). In addition, it was so small, like you warned, that I couldn't get it off in my living room, let along in 100-degree heat in the desert. So, still looking for suitable armor. Any other recommendations? Do you know anything abut the Perinni with CE armor? It's about $80. I recently bought a Honda CB500X and I will put the Rally Raid Level III kit on it as soon as I move from Miami to Arizona. Just this week, I bought a house in Sierra Vista, AZ (distressed property - OMG, such a sweet deal). Gotta sell my Miami place before I move. I should be in AZ before the end of the year. My AZ place is 5 miles from the beginning of the AZBDR. You'll have to come to AZ so we can do the AZBDR!! Is there anything I can do to help your Adventure Bike On-Line Biz?

+Stephen Denlinger Ohhhh my GOODNESS! That's awesome! Awesome for the AZBDR, awesome for the CB500, awesome you got a great deal in AZ! I just rode all day in AZ along the border, and it was amazing! I'm sorry about the armor. Mine is, after so many years, still going strong! The rear zippers blew out a long time ago, but I've never even noticed them being gone. A lot of guys report problems with the zippers. You'd think they'd do so much better to just spend another dollar or two on some solid zippers and spare the poor reviews. I actually had a friend crash really hard, going quite fast today, and it saved his arm and shoulder. I wish I knew more about different armor sets. The ol' knockoff just keeps going, so I haven't needed to replace it! We will definitely need to ride in AZ :)

kings17court Good info... I like Amazon because they back the purchase if anything goes wonky.
@kings17court
@kings17court 10 жыл бұрын
eveRide ADV Well, it looks like things went wonky. I ordered my 11 year old son the adult small of the less expensive version, since he's a little chunky. I ordered the more expensive one for me in XL, since I'm skinny. My son's came in and I really couldn't ask for more. The fit is good, and no complaints. I waited and waited for mine (shipped from China), only to be disappointed. Instead of sending me the more expensive version, they sent me the exact version my son got, but in XL ----- but with the FOX emblem on the back, below each shoulder cup. This is NOT what I ordered. One good thing is that I got to compare the "Fox" version, to the knockoff or clone. The units are exactly the same. Even the mesh jacket is the exact same material. The only difference I see, is that my son's small, has considerably larger chest protector plastic pieces than my XL version. Weird. Even more weird, is that the size of the actual jacket is the same, including the sleeve length, and elbow and forearm plastic placement. You lay them side by side, and they are the same dimensions on the S and "XL." When I squeezed into mine, my elbows were down by the forearm plastics. Aside from the difference in chest plastic size, the other major difference is that the back protectors are hugely different. On my son's it's proportional, and on mine is seems to be actually an XL --- but remember, on a small jacket --- totally out of proportion. In mine, with the back protector zipped in, the top velcro pieces are like 2 inches apart. It's literally like they attached an XL back protector to a S jacket, and sent it my way. But to make it even more weird, the jacket is actually labeled with an XL tag. Who would have thought that the FOX one would be the total screw up. Crazy. Now I'm dealing with the seller, and his response was, "Thank you for your pictures,we had contact with our supplier about this and the guys said this item what you had received does the newest design and now they only have this what you had received already . We do not want to give you a bad buying experience. For this case,if you want ,we will give you 30% of the price for discount and you keep it ,ok?" All I want is a complete refund, and to not get stuck with any return shipping. We'll see how that plays out.

I have the fox version. Doesn't have the hokey thumb holds, zipper is pretty amazing, and I have no issue getting it on and off and I have worn it while sweating like a beast in hard trails and on a motocross track. It does run small, but I rather have that than it be loose. Mine is a little more broke in. The kidney belt on it is fantastic, too. I think paying the extra dollar for things like slightly better fabric and zippers is a good option because fixing a broken zipper, if you don't have the tools can cost you money as well.

2018 - Just got the TMS version of the Fox Titan armor. For me, I wanted to go with a cheaper option to try out the jacket style. I have tried on the Fox Titan at the motorcycle store. First, the TMS version is not bad quality for $31.00. The logo on the back was broken off on arrival, but I used dollar store epoxy and glued it back on to look more finished. BIG TIP ON SIZING 2018 PURCHASE: I would not blindly listen to the upsizing comments. I upsized and it was too long. Read the sizing chart information provided on their website. The sizing chart information was accurate. Also, the TMS jacket reviewed on this video seems to be a previous model because there was no TMS logo on the waistband of the one I just received, so sizing might have changed. If I like this jacket style I will likely buy the Fox version when this one falls apart.

@everideADV Do you have any advice for a larger mammal than your typical Motocross guy? I'm unashamedly huge (6'1" near 300 lbs, barrel chested burly working man type, who has had a few extra beers along the way LOL, really it's a gland thing, so lets move on LOL), and I find it hard to find any kind of sporting equipment that fits me. I DO wear most 2x t shirts comfortably, but I tend to prefer 3x as they are a little less prone to raising up when I lift my arms etc. I don't ride as hard as most folks for obvious reasons, but I do occasionally like to go down some bumpy dirt roads in the catskills on my quad ATV, and have taken a spill and it sucked, nothing permanent, but my wife demands I look into padding up my body some more. Anyway my makeshift skater pads helped, but didn't cover my chest and back etc. Am I just SOL? or do you think there is anything for me? I don't want to pay premium price right now, as it's just a side hobby, but the wife looks at me cross every time I go out for a spin and I'd prefer to keep her on my side if you know what I mean LOL

You could probably have one custom made, but I would hate to see what that would cost. If you or a friend or family member has the ability to use a sewing machine, you might possibly make one. You could start by using a very light and airy moisture wicking long sleeve t-shirt (like the A4 or Sport-Tek on Amzon) that fits you snug, and attach the different components to it. You could even cut it down the font, and attach a zipper. But the most paractical thing is probably to avoid the all-inclusive "jacket" approach, and just use the different pieces of protection.

So do you think I could just take one of these "all inclusive" ones, cut out the armor parts, and attach them? OR something similar? I have no idea how these are constructed, but I'm thinking that might be an option. Much like how I tend to add more nylon straps to my knee pads (god it sucks to be active when you are big n tall LOL).

Wow, I just bought this from T-Motorsports, shipped from the US to the UK, with some $12 knee pads, and it was cheaper than buying a lower quality armour jacket from eBay in the UK. RIDICULOUS!

You gotta watch out on those kneepads, though... they're not the bestest. Make sure you pop the grommets at the joints and replace them with zipties (no lie!) the grommets pop out easily, but so far mine have been great with the zipties.

I have that same 1 and it is almost an exact clone of fox except on arms the fox is single strap the clone is double but I paid $29.95 for mine from tms on ebay and your right on size get a size larger but with me I have to sew on more Velcro on kidney belt since im skinny n tall with long arms but I usually wear a medium I got the large and the arms still need to be a lil longer but works feels like it will stretch some but big but the kidney belt is to big for my belly it barley grabs at end of velcro to somewhat be not tight enough but easy fix I need to just sew on more velcro for custom fit to me totally worth it for protection on normal man budget safety gear is way overpriced its made to save lives but 90% of riders don't wear because they cant afford it

@eveRide
@eveRide 10 жыл бұрын
It is actually quite comfortable now that it's broken in... the sleeves are much easier to remove, even when I'm sweaty and nasty. I haven't had any major spills in it, though I have hit the ground hard a few times on the elbows and have been up without a problem. I took a few big spills in this thing's cheaper (and much worse) little brother and came out alright. Both still work fine with no rips/tears. You say you normally have L. Did you end up choosing one or two sizes bigger? On the website of a Chinese retailer which has the same jacket (www.buyincoins.com/item/33839.html#.VHn_QleG_MF) it's listed that XXL is for people with height 170-175 cm (70kg), and XXXL for 175-180 (80kg) I'm 178cm and about 75 kg, so I'm not sure whether I should order 'Chinese size XL, XXL or XXXL', as I have European size M (sometimes L). Moreover, I have quite wide shoulders. I'm also trying to take into consideration that it becomes more lose once it's worn a couple of times, is that true? Lastly, I'm going to use it in cold climates so I might need it a little bit less snug than one would need in the summer like you. All in all, which do you think I should get?

That did help a little bit, but mainly it's just wet/sticky fabric against skin. As I've worn this armor a lot is has "broken in" a little bit and comes off a bit easier. A good shake works to loosen it up. Thanks! Also, your name reminds me that I should do a bit more shooting :)

Funny thing happened today, i was looking for armor in my neck of the woods (East Europe) and i found one that looks exactly like the one you just reviewed, except they are asking the equivalent of $60 for it, shipped (but hey we have 24% tax) It's called the "HARD RAPTOR L SERIES" , here is a picture from the actual ad www.accesoriiautosimoto.com/img/raptor/armuraraptor.jpg and apparently the full price (it's "on sale" right now) is around $160, now i'm pretty sure that's marketing BS and it's just another clone. Now i'm not an offroad rider (my current bike can't take it, but my next one will) but an armored jacket like this and a normal cheap jacket over it, is cheaper and probably more protective then a normal motorcycle jacket. What are your thoughts on that ? that's pretty much what CycleCruza is also doing and he rides a sports bike. After seeing your review of it i'm hesitant of buying it because of the difficulty of removing it. I'm gonna have to look around some more. P.S. i found another clone on eBay in case any international people wanna buy it, it's ~ $40 (+ any local tax) www.ebay.com/itm/360654308217 for some reason ebay is full of the 2 models you reviewed.

I stalk you so I have see that Vid. My mom use to do the same thing and when you have put the money in. There was nothing left. I mean nothing. We lived in a rented farm house. She worked for the owners of the farm as a maid and cook. She burnt a pot roast and was very sorry for doing it. They would not eat it, so she said she going to feed it to our dog. She brought it home cut off the burned parts, then we ate it. To this day we joke she burnt it on perpose.

True! However I know some people that are poor, and its better to have something rather than nothing. I used this stuff before its a spare set I keep in my truck in case of the wild hair to trail ride when I visit friends. I have crashed hard in this stuff before the zipper is crap... It will can and most likely will separate on you when you wreck. However if you want you can take it to a tailor and have a better one sewed in and modified and you will have a better set. I prefer my FOX. But hey better a squid in cheap armor than one not in armor.

Trouble Maker Not everyone can afford the "good" brands, and sometimes budget products really are just as good. Tools are an example I'm intimately, and unfortunately painfully, familiar with - reputation be damned, some Snap on tools are just crap. And let's face it: since people are going to ride *anyway*, isn't it better for them to wear *some* armor rather than *no* armor?

This is not only fake Fox armor (I personally have zero problem with that), but it is also very low quality item. The plastic is not the same, the mesh is bad. And by buying this "armor" you always put yourself at risk! Because you never know how this thing will behave in accident, the plastic may crack in half whit knife sharp sides and cut you open. That is why it is so cheap - mostly because of the plastic quality. As far as I know, the only fake Fox armor manufacturer that actually produce the same quality as Fox is called "MadBull". But, because of the high quality materials they use - it won't be cheap... Come on guys, there is no miracles, you can't get good things for 77% cheaper price... Yes, you can save maybe 20-30% on it, only because Fox charge you for "the brand", but 70% - you can't be serious!
