Proudly Born in 1984 and lived authentic childhood. Did stamp and coin collection. Played in sand finding shells for hours with friends, played lattu and gulli-danda a lot, drank water from roadside municipal taps, sent a lot of greeting cards to friends and relatives ( hallmark and archies), playing at video game parlours, enjoying rain with polythene tied on head, playing even in bright sunlight in May June when games period is last, trump cards, watching Sunday morning cartoon shows with family and many more memories. This nostalgia is gonna die with me the day I die.

Precisely the ones released before 2005 and even heard the songs from 1950's as well let it be Pakistani songs , Indian songs , American retro music . And I actually realised what my parents meant when they once said that music , lyrics and beats have lost all there meaning in the last 15 years !

This is not just a song but a reflection of times gone by, encapsulation of an entire generation. When lives were simple, aspirations were small, expressions of love were subtle, possessions were cherished. I remember saving for months to buy this album. Songs gradually lost it's lyrics, music it's gravity, depth and authenticity, perfectly reflective of the mindless society we live in today.

This song brings back memories of a time when everything was perfect. Playing cricket with guys who were much older but still being treated as an equal; saving up money to make a phone call to a crush from an 'STD booth', only to listen to her voice and hang up; waiting patiently for a favourite song on the telly... life is good today but I wish I could go back in time just for a few days and relive those moments once again.

This album was rejected by several music houses including Amitabh Bachhan Corp Ltd and others. But was finally accepted by BMG (bought by Sony and became Sony BMG in 2008). Lucky Ali had to put in his own money in the production of this music video because BMG was not ready to take the risk as Pop music was still not a popular genre in India. It was finally shot in Cairo and rest is history. This immediately put Lucky Ali on the center stage and fame.

It was 1996 I was 8 or 9. My father had come back from Oman, with a request from one of my cousins there, to buy Lucky Ali and Colonial Cousins' cassettes for him when he comes back. My father had bought both, but couldn't return due to a heart ailment that we found a few weeks later. I opened Sunoh's cassette, played in a single speaker tiny red color National cassette player. O Sanam was the first song that played. It's been with me ever since then. So has been Lucky Ali's music O Sanam, and Lucky Ali's music, also became what I consider to be my rooting in music, my fundamental baseline for what good music should be. O Sanam has also been the only song that I'd play whenever I'd buy a new speaker set, head phone, music player, computer or mobile phone.

The Story of the Song: We can see an old man is brought before a Masked Lord (Lucky Ali), The lord imprisons the old man. Now, the girl is related to the old man imprisoned by the lord, so in order to free him she fakes a love relationship with him and while the lord is sleeping she steals the key and frees the old man. Accordingly, later in the song we can see she is brought before the lord and as a punishment he had to kill her even though he loved her. In the present life the lord (Lucky Ali) is reborn as Archaeologist and when he stumbles upon the key, he remembers everything, his heartbreak, that girl which brings him pain. Later we can see lucky ali throws away the key in which he accepts the truth of life "Milke Bichadna Dastoor hogaya" finally he is at peace. In the starting we se an old man and Lucky Ali enjoying Hookah and Tea, having no idea that the old man in his previous life was imprisoned by Lucky Ali, whereas lucky Ali having no clue that the old man caused him his biggest heartbreak in his previous life

The story here is The girl is related to the old man arrested by Feudal lord (Lucky Ali). She tries to make fake love relationship with him. The leader falls in love with her. She betrays the true love and freeds the old man. So as a punishment the leader had to kill her. In the present time the leader is reborn and returns to the same place as archeologist and remembers the incident through the "KEY". Archeologist (Lucky) is grief-stricken with how the events turned out and throws the key away in a symbolic gesture to free it all. In the end, once again the two men, the feudal lord and the prisoner are shown chilling together with tea and hookah. They clearly have no memory of their past lives. Time conquers all.

I was 13 years old when heard this song for first time and dint have 45 rupees to purchase this audio cassette "SUNOH". Later my neighbor advised saying recording in some old cassette can be done in just 2 rupees, i was so happy and went out immediately looking for some recording shops for first time in my life. Unfortunately the shop owner demanded 10 rupees in order to bring the original cassette and wants me to record whole 10 songs. I managed 10 rupees in 3 days later, this was the love i have for this song, tho today i have all his in originals. Used to keep on changing channels with remote control on my TV for this song just carzzzzyyyy it made me. This track made a world record to stay on MTV charts for 60 consecutive weeks and sold around 10 million copy's.

This masterpiece was rejected by all the record labels at that time and the one called 'BMG Crescendo' which accepted it, also asked Lucky Ali to finance everything on his own because of distrust on it being hit. This not only explains that how much Lucky Ali was ahead of his time but also how stupid record labels were. As it turned out, this was one of the biggest hit even in 1996.

This Song Made a World Record to stay on Top of MTV Asia charts for whooping 60 consecutive weeks, its still a standing challenge if any song in History could stay on Top of charts for 60 consecutive weeks and Album SUNOH had 12 million record sales though Audio cassette was twice more expensive compared to T -Series and others, the song simply stood test of time, Lucky Ali made a killing with this song in 90's, its considered to be one of best Indian pop songs EVER... Sunoh can be referred as history in its making as it introduced such a great melody maker/ musician....
