It wouldn't, his voice wouldn't be a better fit *at all* If you had translated either the Japanese version or the original French version, you'd know the tone both Ryota Takagi and Charles Aznavour is the most appropriate It's quite saddening to see people enjoy this song a lot but downplay the work the interpretors put in, with no basis either

yup after hours of searching the conclusion ive reached is- It was translated to japanese from the french original, then from the Japanese version into every other language. That resulted in what dorian sings in english not sounding like anything from the original song. And i'll also add that the baki version was remixed so it has the orchestra which resulted in the rhythm being different from the original. So they really just took the name and made an outstanding original. Maybe if baki is made into a movie they will include this and record a full version for the soundtrack. it really sounds more like the Alain Barrière version of ma vie which is oddly not the credited one or the one in this video. just shows how much gets lost in translation.
