hi!! that is such an exciting part of your life to look forward to! i really hope you'll enjoy your time at uni and make the most of the time you have while at halls! that's a really good question because it must be a big transition from high school and uni and it can be a bit nerve wracking having to make new friends. i can assure you, though, that living in the halls provides a vast number of opportunities that allow you to make friends! the first week of being at halls, everyone is wanting to make new friends so don't be afraid of speaking to the first person you see because they are probably thinking at that moment "should i say hi?" orientation week is the perfect time to make friends and get involved as much as you can in the events! everyone likes to go for the purpose of making friends so that's super duper easy! you'll be surrounded by others who are probably just as excited/nervous so don't worry about it! from then onwards, it may seem easier said than done but i'm not kidding when i say that you get super close to people in the hall super quick. being surrounded by the same people for a while (particularly on your floor) allows for you to get to know one another a lot quicker than if you weren't in halls (in my opinion). i definitely definitely DEFINITELY (hehe) recommend staying in halls to anyone and everyone. it makes the whole transition a lot smoother and easier for you and requires less effort on your end to make friends. all the opportunities for making friends are laid out for you, all you have to do is take it and maybe just be the one to take the leap and say hi and maybe exchange socials and just talk

This is such a cool video!!! I'm thinking about getting a dorm next year at uoa, and I was wondering what halls would be the best for like a quiet but friendly sort of space if you know what I mean! Idk, If you have any thoughts after your experience so far, or what influenced you choice idk Hhahfj :)

aw thank you!!! this is such an exciting time for you! i hope the whole process runs smoothly 💞 i was tossing between waipa and towers but i chose towers just because it was smaller and a lot more close knit feel to it in comparison. i know grafton is really lovely for a more quieter and friendly environment because it’s got less people living there and it’s further from the city. though it does also depend on person to person what will best suit. i love living in halls and definitely think regardless of if you are in auckland already or not that you should try to get into halls if you can! it’s just an incredibly easy way to make friends without forcing it and there are just so many opportunities that are open to you when you’re at halls. i’ve only been here for 5 months but i’ve found that my floor is just my second family. it’s truly the best. if you have more questions or anything specific or wanna hear more about my experience let me know! i’ll gladly help 🫶🏼

Teheh random question but is the food actually good at towers? because I don't wanna be spending banks of money on take out lol :)

AHAH no that is a very valid question. personally I find the food decent for being hostel food made to feed loads of people. sometimes it can be an eh but generally the food shouldn't disappoint. althoughhhh, you'll find regardless of whichever hall you are at that you'll end up going out for dinner with your floor mates some nights anyway cause it's just fun to go out. waipa hall is known for their various options so if food is a biggie then that could be your best bet but then i have friends there who eat out a lot too. self control is a virtue whilst at halls....😅
