Why am I watching videos where Maddie annoys me the most? Idk. lol Her entire speech here makes no sense and I just don't know why David loved her. She talks like he's beneath her and acts like she doesn't want him. Plenty of other women would! He should have ended their non-relationship first.

By the time Miss Stuck-up Control Freak finally came out the house from the scene before, it was probably too late to take her highness anywhere *acceptable* to her. All that was left was a bar or the laundromat. Brother did the best he could for a woman who would NEVER be pleased. This entire episode right here is a cautionary tale for all people in relationships. They should show it in high schools. lol. When you meet a Maddie Hayes type person, don't get sidetracked by the packaging, don't walk away, RUN.

⁠​⁠​⁠@@KayJay7000Okay so I am 6 years late with this comment but here it is anyway. lol I disagree that Maddie’s behavior is necessarily typical. Previous to the complication of Cybill’s pregnancy, Maddie had softened considerably and was signaling she wanted to explore a closer relationship with David. But for some inexplicable reason, the writers completely botched Cybill’s absence by creating a conflict and separation where none was actually warranted, at least not to the extent they took it. They could have shot all of the scenes Cybill did sans Bruce without turning it into a hideously nonsensical breakup. While aloofness and snobbery were always in Maddie’s character, I believe what she did was a complete 180 from the character development she’d undergone since she met David. In one fell swoop they pretty much obliterated the last two and half years of those two growing and changing together. As a woman, Maddie’s “reasoning” for pushing him away makes absolutely no sense to me at all and I think it’s out of character for her given what they’d been through. Much of her dialogue was absolute word salad tripe. Pre-David Maddie I could see doing it but not early-mid S3 Maddie. I think there was one female writer on board but I’d really like to know who was ultimately responsible for the awful decision to turn Maddie into the heartless pod-person she became in S4 (it was men most likely). It’s as if the writing team lost their wits after the consummation and decided that the audience wouldn’t accept Maddie and David in the same way if they remained together romantically. Or maybe they just didn’t have the wherewithal to write anything besides witty banter, idk, but the whole reason people watched was for the sexual pull between those two actors. Crushing that and making it platonic was the biggest mistake and I will never understand it.

Granted he must of been mad taking her to a laundrette, but you can't deny she's been awful to him so many times. YOU CAN'T blame ALL women though, I would never ever act like Maddie does to David, even if he did take me to a place like that, lol I'd be baffled, but I'm no where near as cold or argumentative as she is.

This show became insufferable after David and Maddie got together. This whole dialogue makes no sense and everything that happened after D & M got together made no sense. What were they thinking? In any case, the first three seasons were great.

The writers the last two seasons ,for the most part ,failed the show. There were a few good episodes and some great scenes, but the series ended badly. Too bad Glenn Gordon Caron left.
