Thanks a million. I did install the 10 Ohm resistor and a bulb instead of the broken heater circuit and it worked!!!!!!It made the ECM believe the heater is fucntioning and surpressed the P0135 error code to be set and the MIL light to get on. This allowed me to pass the technical emission inspection with no problems. The only problem is that the resitor gets very hot, so this item needs to be place with much care to not melt down tubes and wires in the engine room

Very informative mano, there are several 1 ohm heater circuits that are 1 ohm resistance. Nominal current draw thru heater circuit is 7 amps (pulsed). heater resistance is critical

great video,unfortunately it doesn't touch on my problem so I'm hoping you can help me. I have a BMW e46. no mil and no codes stored. monitors for heated 02 and cc show incomplete or not ready. was told possible exhaust manifold to cat leak pre 02 could be the cause due to perimeters not being met. is this possible and any advise on how to confirm or determine precise location of leak?

Dene Vlach this video DOES answer that question. It tells you how to test your O2 heater circuit, and how to fake it as well, if need be. Thats all the info you need.

HI I HAVE A 07 ranger sport 4.0 sohc both 1 and 2 upstream banks are stuck rich ,,, and that's with new sensors .... when you say the o2 sensor heater will shut down if it detects a problem can you give me a list of where or what types of problems ,,,,,,,, truck just runs rough ,,,,,,, and slow at acceleration with hesitation ,,,,,, cleaned the maf and iac ,,,,,,, but I get no other codes escept stuck rich on banks 1 and 2 . something is triggering that stuck rich which if I am not mistaken measns to much oxygen is that correct ,,,,,,,,,,, and its pretty bad but I just get a check engine light solid not flashing .

ok so to bypass the heater circuit you need to get a 10ohm resister is there any bypass kit so I don't melt anything I'm assuming it will get super hot....?

Hi Mandy, i wonder if you could clarify something for me. I've made up a test rig as described in this video, but when i measure the resistance of the rig with an ohm meter the values are less than half of the resistance values of the bulb alone, before i added the 10ohm resistor in parallel with the bulb as shown in the diagram at 1 minute and 50 seconds in the video? I am using an instrument cluster bulb. Do i need a certain wattage bulb? Is it anything to do with the temperature coefficient characteristics of the rig - (the fact that i am testing the rig when cold)??? Please let me know where i am going wrong. Many thanks, Joe
@ADPTraining11 жыл бұрын
Ok, the 10 Ohm resistor has to be a BIG ceramic type to dissipate the heat. The theory is that if the circuit has enough juice for the resistor and the light bulb to turn ON, then it's all fine. This is the same characteristic for the O2 sensor Heater. If bulb doesn't light up, then circuit can not provide enough current.

How to I disable the POO56 error so the engine light goes off temporarily to be able to pass inspection? Once I pass inspection I can dedicate time to getting it repaired permanently.
@ADPTraining9 жыл бұрын
+Oswaldo A. Gonzalez You can't that Oswaldo, that's the purpose of OBD-2 system. You need to fix the issue first, pass the monitors (tests run by the ECM), then the ECM generates a passing score. Inspections just read the ECM score. THey don't pass or fail you. It's your car that fails you.

i don't think it's necessary to know how many amps the oxygen sensor to operate vs the A/F ratio sensor. If heater is not working simply check power, if there's power, replace oxygen sensor done.
@loneranger216210 жыл бұрын
All you need to do is check with an ohm meter. The heater element can be checked with an ohm meter, unlike the O2 sensor itself since it could be damaged.
@ADPTraining10 жыл бұрын
Guys an Ohm test is not conclusive and has nothing to do with current. O2 sensors draw a few Amps of current. If you do an Ohm test of an O2 heater hanging by a thread, or single wire STRAND, it'll pass the test. Forget it, that heater will no work. It'll pass the Ohm test but these tests are not conclusive. You need to stress the circuit.
@loneranger216210 жыл бұрын
ADPTraining If it's hanging by a thread, if that thread was sufficient to pass the required amperage, all should be well, else the wire would burn through (just as a fuse would) resulting in an open circuit.
@ADPTraining10 жыл бұрын
No that is not true and it's exactly what I'm trying to explain to you. It is often the case, that the circuit has a wiring issue and the wire condition or connector contact points is enough to pass the Ohm test, but not the provide proper current flow. THe best case are injectors (900 mA Max current) or even fuel pumps (2 to 3 A current). These values are not enough to melt a weak connection, but will cause havoc on the system. It won't be an issue on an ignition coil (4 to 6A) or a cooling fan. These devices are high current and as you mentioned, the connection will melt or fail altogether first. But on many other components it is a major issue... www.autodiagnosticsandpublishing.com/Automotive_Diagnostic_Repair_Book_Catalog.htm

Hello Toyota diesel car changed lambda sensor, an error came back. Resistance 13Ohm the heating circuit .12v goes to the heating circuit. The ECM does not come from ground.The error code P0031. I deleted an error, but did not come to ground. What should I do?
If O2 sensor and AF senosr mix up.. u will get heater circuit low code.. connector can be mix..connector different is not true..
@ADPTraining11 жыл бұрын
On some early Toyotas yes, the connector was the same. That is true, but hasn't been the case for some time now. Besides, lots of AFR sensors are 5 and 6 wire sensors, so they differ.

Fixing it that's not really fixing it that's touching it you didn't really fix a broken part so that's a little different in the English term I guess you're trying to fix the problem by replacing the bread O2 sensor in knowing if it's really bad or not but it's not really fixing it it's fixing the problem but not fixing the O2 sensor
