There’s blood in the soil. As beautiful as it is, Oak Alley’s history is extremely dark and ever so sad. I know for me it’d be hard not to feel that horrible past while sitting cinder those trees, laying in the grass all day. I appreciate that this video is very respectful of the slaves and examines what life would have been like for them.

I just visited a couple days ago and it was a nice tour. We weren’t allowed to take photos which is why me and my family came but enjoyed ourselves nonetheless. The fact that enslaved men and women built this home against their will breaks my heart. Some of you all look at this house and see beauty but don’t think about how it was built and about the people who bled and were whipped due to being exhausted and not being able to carry on. I see no beauty in this house. I see hard work, tears, and shame. I don’t want to make anything negative but we truly don’t know what it was personally like during that time. There is no room for argument with anything I’ve said as you wouldn’t understand. May the soul’s of Oak Alley rest in heaven ✊🏾

Beautiful plantation but $25 bucks a head, I'd rather go out and eat a steak with my friends or family. It ought to be cheaper if you have a Louisiana ID. Being a resident and all. The greed is absurd !!!
@garyhammond22138 ай бұрын
You keep talking about Emancipation Proclamation. It only applied to the rebellion states. It did not apply to the northern or border states. And really didn't apply to anyone as the war was ongoing for 2 more years. Many blacks willingly joined the Confederate Army. It was not a myth as some northerners claim. After the war, many southern state governments paid pensions to black Confederates. It's all documented. Some time ago, I saw the website that listed black Confederate pensioners, but it was taken down. I guess not politically correct. FYI, I'm not pro-slavery. However, it continues to this day.

@@Dr.SalvatoreVinciguerra True, For example, Tennessee was under Lincoln's Union control at the time of the EP, therefore, Tennessee was no longer in rebellion thus Lincoln's EP did not free slaves in TN.
