This looks pretty interesting. I definitely need a 17th tabletop game, heh.

"I'm a little rusty on it..." The rust won't affect the Oak, but you may want to watch our for rust on the Iron...

This reminds me alot of Pirates of the Spanish Main. Ships are different, but alot of the same stuff except for the playmat! Pirates never came with a playmat!

I loved that game! And it's one of the reasons I really researched Oak & Iron before buying into it. And it was worth it, because it's so easy to play.

There was a pack that came with a play mat. And there is a boardgame that came with a playmat

I would check gameplay before gluing the jibs (front sails) in place. They may be similar to S-foils in X-Wing, where if you have jibs deployed may provide more movement downwind, but hinder movement when crosswind. If wind is a game mechanic on this game.

Have you looked at Ares Games Sails of Glory or Wings of Glory. I believe Sails of Glory is a naval game set during the Napoleonic War while Wings of Glory (reprisal of Wings of War) is arieal combat during the First and Second World Wars. All miniatures come pre-painted and at least with Wings, is fairly easy to learn.

Good timing. Civilizations 6 just released a new game mode for free - pirate mode. Lots of fun

Helpful tip: You will need extra dice! They just released sets of additional dice, after being out of stock for about 4 months. In these days of COVID, it helps to have extra dice to share with friends, so every player only touches their own set. Just some friendly advice. 😃

"And this is gonna add, ah actually three new frigates." Proceeds to show a vessel with clearly 2 gun decks. Hmm, there might be a slight mistake here.

Also I have looked up Queen Anne's Revenge and none of the pics show that configuration, I would put the largest sail in the middle

This was an amazing review for a really fun game! I bought it during the shutdown, so I had plenty of time to work on my ships. And the rules are SO easy to learn, so it's become one of the big games that we play at our LGS. I noticed that 3 scurvy pirates down-voted the video (boo on you). Thank you for giving this the review it needed, Crabbok!

Firelock Games is a great company. Awesome games that look great on the tabletop. By the way, the biggest ship is the First Rate. Thanks for the video on a cool game.
