Wow! Those looked amazing! I don't have a table saw, but I'm hoping to recreate this the best way I can with my saw. Thanks!

Great little project. Thanks for sharing. I tried something similar. But my skills are not good enough (yet) to have the angles perfectly at 45 degrees. You might call it rustic but I'm afraid they would rustically collap. I must keep on trying.

They look brilliant, mate. 👍 Are you going to varnish the shelves like the brackets? Awesome job. 👌

Excellent! I would much rather see something nice and handmade than something from IKEA. I expect just loading up the shelves might cause them to twist back into alignment, without needing any planing.
@Badgerworkshop5 жыл бұрын
Thanks Alan. Yes that might work

What’s wrong with products from IKEA? Apart from providing employment for people all over the world, IKEA have enabled many families to furnish their houses with reasonably priced and functional furniture, not only here in Sweden but in many countries worldwide. So what’s the big deal?
@alanmuddypaws38652 жыл бұрын
@@geeborg6912 Personal choice. Buy from IKEA if you want to, but if you have the skills to make something better then do that if you want to. I didn't say there was anything wrong with Ikea.

@@geeborg6912 If you don't know what a disparaging comment is then let me furnish you with an example - "IKEA is shit and you are a dick!". But I didn't put any such thing in my original post, which was not disparaging at all.

Can you give details of that blade please Matt? I'm here in Brum and can't find similar and I seeth when I see our US cousins using dado sets! If you can make those brackets ad-infintum you could give IKEA a run for their money!

DIY is expensive. Much cheaper to buy, but you’ll never match the quality of hand made carpentry with quality hardwood. Nice job 👍

My grandparents cottage used the same brackets, but I don't ont think the 45 degree piece was trimmed off on the end like yours. Screw cups, that's a new one to me!

Excuse my ignorance but did you have to notch out the shelf to fit against the wall or did you leave a gap at the back of the self? Beautifully done brackets.

Yes you can buy from ikea, but YOU ARE A MAKER, You cannot compare the price of Ikea against your costs. You had the wood , you had the glue you had the saws, the only thing you may have bought were the brass insets. You cannot divide the individual costs. You can only say, bought wood, bought glue, bought brass, bought table saw, bought clamps, bought drill, bought screws, bought stain, bought shed, paid electricity..........tell me when to stop, You built some shelf supports ACE ACE ACE Yes if you didn't have the above you would have gone to IKEA and borrowed drill, borrowed drill bits, borrowed screwdriver/ drill driver, Great video good brackets .

Nice job, although I don't think there is anything intrinsically wrong in buying stuff from IKEA. There seems to be a sub-genre of woodworkers who like to take IKEA furniture and 'upgrade' it for their own purposes, I've seen a couple of videos about that.
