Ideology is one hell of a drug let me tell ya. You'll keep voting against your own best interest, hoping that one day thre promised utopia will happen, but it never happens. A pragmatist would realize that good intentions don't neccesarily translate into good results and would try to find a better solution when faced with obvious failure. But that requires compromise and admission that you or your ideology could be wrong/flawed. Two things the left is very bad at. So they'd rather let it spiral out of control and eventually blame it on conversatives or whoever else is available at the time. Unless the left learns pragmatism and to look at issues realistically rather than emotionally, they're doomed to repeat these errors over and over again.

I live in a large blue city that allows both open carry and concealed carry, though the later does require a permit. No firearms allowed in establishments that serve alcohol for on-site consumption, no schools, and no hospitals, so pretty much standard for everywhere else in the country, blue or red. When firearms are used in an act of self-defense, whether in the home or not, 99% of the time the victim isn't arrested or charged with anything, and rightfully so. I'd be interested to see if you can guess the state/city based on that information. Not every blue city is completely garbage in that respect. Some of them still respect the 2nd amendment and the ability to defend yourself. They just end up focusing all their energy on other worthless policies and projects.

A gas station right down the street from me got ransacked and immediately just went out of business because they didn’t even want to bother trying to fix the place after it got looted. They just said Effit and now the place is empty and for sale. The place isn’t in some dark corner of the city, it’s in a Suburban area. It’s in the parking lot of a strip mall, with Target and a bunch of restaurants. On paper it’s prime real estate for a gas station. These hyenas have no fear of being caught or any punishment.

I am reminded of when a student protest took place in my small town. The only ones looking to cause trouble were people who were from out of town. Dressed like thugs, drove in beat up cars, and they littered everywhere. And they were fidgeting all of the time, sizing up everyone, as though they were casing the place and looking for an easy mark. They were looking for some action, but the police were on them. There was a man armed with a rifle in front of the MOD Pizzeria and Wells Fargo Bank, who was friendly to the police. Who explained he was asked to protect the pizzeria. It was pretty tense. But the student protestors were high schoolers, and their parents, who obeyed the law. And they were escorted by the police. My local police department was awesome that day.

I think a law along the lines of: "The use of deadly force may be justified to prevent imminent arson, burglary, robbery, aggravated robbery, theft during the nighttime, or criminal mischief during the nighttime, where the land or property cannot otherwise be protected or recovered" might be helpful in these situations.

-(1:48) Tourists in Oakland??? As a native Californian (I know, it sucks), I've been to Oakland many times and tourism is not one of its strong points. I honestly can't remember ever being impressed with the City. -Apparently, the starving family members of those ransackers need their HoHos and Ding Dongs to survive. -The problem with having a firearm as a business owner in Oakland (8:27) is that I guarantee that at least a few of the ransackers also had guns on them. This is Oakland after all. -I am so damn sick of watching POC do this crap to businesses usually ran by other POCs in their own freakin' neighborhoods! There is a reason why inner city black people have a reputation and so many are stereotyped as thugs and criminals. This event is a perfect example of that reason. Look, I get it that it is not just POCs partaking in these crimes but the majority sure seem to be committed by young black men. How the hell will this ever change? this gas station was on my way to work 15 years ago. felt the need to highlight: this isn't deep in East Oakland or your typical no-mans-land area... it's literally right off a major freeway and also the main exit for an international airport (in case the former in & out location wasn't enough of an indicator)

As someone who doesn't live in USA, these 'mob lootings' are fascinating to me. My country is 3rd world compared, but this has NEVER happened to one our stores. Maybe a robber or two, or a gang robbing a store- sure, this happens. But a whole community partaking in looting? Around here, we would call this as a failure of the people. *Failed people.* A community with a tiny shred of decency would not condone this. Even animals know better.
