A small business that has repeatedly been targeted by thieves was cleared out once again over the weekend. The owner says he actually moved his business to Grand Avenue from its previous location thinking he'd be safer.

I’m glad I moved out of Oakland last summer. I love that city, but things just aren’t getting any better. Lawlessness and the city itself just looks run down. I ended up moving to Henderson, NV. A city 15 minutes away from the Las Vegas strip. Out here, you don’t see graffiti or trash scattered all over. They have maintenance cleaning side of freeways here every morning, the city landscape are well maintained. Parks are kept clean and no homeless encampments. Police out here don’t mess around either, that’s why most residents here are law abiding citizens. How do you go from Oakland, and just crossing those little bridges to go to Alameda and all of a sudden the vibe feels like a difference level of security. 🤦‍♂️

The scary part is the people in charge Mayor, the police, city council, have no plan or strategy to stop it, and the criminals and citizens know that. I don't even remember it being this bad in the 80's it's basically uncivilized now. And citizens are going to start taking things into their own hands, which is really bad! The officials are in hiding because they have nothing to offer the citizens except identity politics and distractions, no real policy or financial investments. If I was the new mayor, even without a plan, I would be out meeting people every day and at least looking like I was doing something. 😂

He did it to himself. If you want to do retail, do retail, don't host parties. If you want to run a night club, run a night club. These businesses don't go together. If you're going to be in retail and you're getting repeat hit you have to install security mechanisms. Roller doors, bollards, proper locks, properly hung doors, fog canons, security cameras, night security patrols, etc. etc. If you're not going to adequately secure your premises, then you can't be surprised when you get taken for everything you have.
