Fairly impressive because Oaklawn isn't one of the lightning fast tracks, so it's more likely for a colt to come out of the race healthy, and the times won't look that good. Dosage is pretty high at 3.80, but his pedigree is better than that for Derby distance IMO. Really, he figures to mature and improve with bloodlines like Roberto in him. I don't like that he's already had six races this early in his career, but hopefully he won't run any more than one race before the Derby.

A nice opening jump and very slow fractions helped Coal Battle pick up points for the Derby. I'm surprised Gary & Mary's horse didn't fire here. Squeezed very wide at the break, the just flat in the backstretch and far turn.
