clear vs prizm clear? when would you want the prizm over the just plain clear? whats best for at night?
@sportrxeyewear2 жыл бұрын
Hey Rich! The Prizm clear has a VLT of 64% which makes it an excellent choice for very cloudy, flat light daytime conditions but you typically want a straight clear lens for night riding with a VLT around 80% or higher.

Okay, I need to know if you've had any issue or heard of anyone having an issue with fogging with these prizm goggles?? I just used mine over in Steamboat for the first time and couldn't even enjoy my ride because the fogging got so bad. I saw that in the videos you had the goggles tucked underneath the helmet not over it. Is that the issue? Or is it the actual helmet that I own (GIRO) that doesn't have enough ventilation? HALP!

Looking for a new goggle for mountain snowmobiling. Blue bird days are rare so something that provides contrast is important. Also, something that won't fog is #1!!! I've tried anti fog stuff that you apply to lenses, and it doesn't keep up. How are these for fogging? Do they fit well on MX style helmets??

Hi there! Fogging is an unfortunate side effect with just about every snow goggle out there but, to your point, there are after market applications that help reduce moisture buildup inside the lens. That said Oakley does a decent job at combating fog buildup with their designs.

hi guys from sportRx. I have one question. You said in your video that sapphire has same transmission like jade and torch. but Oakley has on its web that sapphire and jade are darker (13% transmission and torch is 17%). also i had both and torch is really brighter. sapphire and jade are really darker so i am not sure if really sapphire will be good for overcast weather. can you say something about that?
@sportrxeyewear6 жыл бұрын
Hello! Thanks for sharing your experience with us! I see Oakley has the VLT listed as 17% for Torch. In the review we do categorize torch, jade, and sapphire into the medium lens tint that can be worn in multiple conditions. PRIZM Rose or HI-Pink is designed specifically for low light/overcast conditions and will perform better than torch, jade, or sapphire for those specific conditions because the VLT is higher. Thanks for reaching out!

Thanks for the awesome videos! Now with the end of the season I want to get a new second lens for my Flight Deck (not the right time I guess) and I am surprised to see that the Prizm Rose with 26% VLT is considered to be a low light lens, when it is an S2 lens. If we stick to the VLT criterion, the Black Iridium (S4) would be like the Sun Green (S3) from Smith; the Sapphire, Jade and Torch (S3) like the Sun Blackout, Platinum and Red (S3) from Smith; the Prizm Rose (S2) like the Everyday Green, Violet and Red (S2) from Smith. The Smith Everyday Rose (S2) would be somewhere in between the Prizm Rose and the Hi-Pink (S1), and this one would be more similar to the Storm Rose (S1) from Smith and a bit darker than the Yellow Storm (S1). Is this correct? However, in Oakley it seems that the Rose is a polyvalent low lens rather than an everyday lense as its VLT suggest. And the Hi-Pink is described as a lens for really bad conditions (like the Yellow Storm) instead of simple a low light lens as the Storm Rose from Smith. The I/Os usually come with a Sun or Everyday lense plus a storm lens. In Oakley you would expect then to get a Hi-Pink as second lense and any other as first lens. However, usually it is an S3-S4 lens plus the Hi-Pink or the Rose. But isn’t the Rose too dark for a second lens? Is the Hi-Pink not so dark as to be ditched as normal low lens by the Rose? To summarise: would you say that the Prizm Rose is much suitable for low light conditions than the Smith Everyday lenses with a similar VLT? Thanks for your help!
@sportrxeyewear6 жыл бұрын
Hey Sirmarch! In regards to the VLT criterion, you have it pretty spot on. In our opinion, both the Rose and Everyday shields will work great for those overcast, stormy days. When Rob and Tyler tested out the Rose shield in Mammoth for a whiteout day, they thought the Rose provided amazing contrast. What made the Rose amazing is its versatility. Although it was designed for lowlight conditions, you can get away using it on a sunny day if you prefer more light to come through. Now we have had some customers say the Rose is too dark and would prefer the Hi Pink. It comes down to your personal preference on how much light you want to see and how sensitive your eyes are. To Summarize: The Rose was designed to allow a tad more light through compared to the Everyday shields. The Rose is about a 28% VLT and the Everyday sits around 23-25% VLT. In regards to the optical experience, they will be almost identical which is why it comes down to which one you prefer.

Thanks a lot for your reply! I guess I will have to try both the Prizm Rose and the Prizm Hi-Pink in the resort next Autumn/Winter. I value the fact that I could go with only one lens (either the Sapphire or whichever I chose from these two) and forget about changes (these lenses are pretty huge and I don't carry a backpack) but I also have an orange lens with VLT=50% for those days when you need the goggles to really help you see something and I like this option as well.

Both the Rose Pink and Torch lenses are great options but we would recommend going with the Rose Pink over the Torch. The Torch works better in sunny conditions but if the weather is overcast the Torch lens will make it harder to cruise down the mountain. The Rose Pink lens is built for overcast and snowy days, but you can get by using it on a more sunny day. Both lenses would not be recommended for night snowboarding, but since the Rose Pink has a lighter lens tint it will be the better option between the two.

It looks like the Saphire has more of a mirror look (almost like the black iridium) than the torch, do you agree that it's more mirror than the torch and has slightly better protection against the sun from the torch -although minimum still a little better for sunny days? Also you mention that the VLT is higher than what it says on the oakley site. Okley says 13 for saphire and 17 for torch yet you said its a little higher unless im mistaken? Hi there! Great questions! We feel that PRIZM Sapphire and Torch function very very similar to one another. Both lenses have mirror or iridium coatings on the outside of the lens to protect your eyes on sunny days. Although PRIZM Black may offer more protection on SUPER bright days, Sapphire or Torch are what we recommends since there is more flexibility to use them when the clouds start to roll in. Hello Mike! These are all the PRIZM Snow lenses for now. But the good news is that there are enough PRIZM options to have you covered no matter what conditions you may find yourself in. Thanks for reaching out!

I bought and tried the Flight deck Saphire Iridium on a cloudy mountain and I wish the contrast would have been better as there were situations where I could have seen the bumps ahead in stead of plain white.... No lens is going to beat the eye when it comes to picking up the shades of white... Is going to be tough speed flying picking up the depth in Snow White... I bought what I thought is the best...

guys i have a question for you! i have been searching in the last 2 weeks for a new google and after a lot of search and i mean a loot! of search i have came up to the oakley line miner black iridium and line miner jade iridium military. i have also considered the flight deck torch iridium but i think that maybe is too red for me.. so whick one you would advise me to buy?? i hear rob saying that the black iridium is more conservative (which is something i prefer bcs i think they will last longer as far as the fashion aspect) and you can still ride with them in cloudy days. are they really working well on those kind of days??
@sportrxeyewear7 жыл бұрын
The Flight Deck and Line Miner are both amazing goggles! You can't go wrong with either one, seriously. As for the lens color, you should go with the Jade or Torch, if you want a better most-conditions lens. You won't regret it! We used the Jade/Torch/Sapphire on a white out day and they were functional. The Rose/Hi Pink definitely performed better, but the fact that we could use them at all was a testament to their lower light functionality. Let us know which one you end up going with!
@bkzlatan7 жыл бұрын
man i have already ordered the line miner black iridium! the same one as the guy from oakley was wearing when you did the black iridium review! hope i can still see well on cloudy days!
@sportrxeyewear7 жыл бұрын
The Prizm tech is amazing and will help increase contrast and depth perception, regardless. Keep in mind you can always order an additional goggle lens and swap them when you see the need! Call us and we can help with them if/when you decide to do that! 888-831-5817

Are those Oakley Prizm gogles compatible with this helmet www.evo.com/outlet/helmets/k2-phase-pro-audio-helmet ?
@sportrxeyewear7 жыл бұрын
Oakley designed all their Prizm goggles to fit most helmets on the market. From our knowledge we believe the Phase Pro Audio helmet should be compatible.

Hi guys, I know that if you have to choose one Oakley lens it would be a Prizm Rose, but if you could choose 2 lenses for any weather conditions, what would it be? Cheers

Hi Anna! PRIZM Torch, Jade, and Sapphire are all great options that function very similar and will get you by in a variety of conditions.

@@sportrxeyewear I was thinking about one of them. So one them and PRIZM rose as a 2nd for the worse conditions?
@BAYERACUDA4 жыл бұрын
I have Prizm black, Prizm Jade and Hi Pink Prizm - I would say my vote for #1 would be the Jade if I had to pick one. For 2, I would do Prizm black and Hi Pink. Black is necessary IMO for the really bright days, as the sun is bouncing off the snow. Squinting all day sucks too. The other end of the spectrum is very low/overcast/snow days. Tint isn't your friend when the light is low. Hi Pink offers just enough to show contrast, it DOESN'T brighten like yellow. (don't like) P.S. I had Prizm Rose in A frame 2.0 and they were good too as an all rounder. For night riding, go clear.
@annakazubek34134 жыл бұрын
@@BAYERACUDA right now I have Prizm Rose, but haven't used it yet- in one week. Is this lens will be enough for a bright sunny day? Or better to take Black or Jade/Sapphire for that?
@BAYERACUDA4 жыл бұрын
@@annakazubek3413 It depends on how sensitive your eyes are really. I wouldn't do well with Rose or Hi Pink when really bright out, but my eyes are more sensitive to light having had Lasik surgery. If given the option, for sure take the Jade or Black for sunny days.

@sportrxeyewear5 жыл бұрын
Hello! PRIZM Black will work bets in super sunny conditions. PRIZM Jade, Sapphire, and Torch are all everyday lenses and are great for a variety of conditions. Hope this helps! You can always contact one of our certified opticians if you have more questions: www.sportrx.com/contact

Torch is brighter than irridium.
@sportrxeyewear5 жыл бұрын
Hello Max! PRIZM Torch and PRIZM Torch Iridium really mean the same thing. The iridium coating is part of PRIZM Torch but it is more noticeable when the sun is out because the mirror becomes more profound.

Hi, I have a question: if you have to choose a prizm lens for all weather conditions, which one would that be? Is the prizm hi pink a good option? Btw I have already the sapphire and the prizm rose but I am thinking about purchasing the hi pink. Thanks and I like your vids!
@sportrxeyewear7 жыл бұрын
llounge, thank you! The Hi Pink would be a great compliment to your Sapphire and Rose lenses. The Sapphire is great for cloudy to sunny days and the Rose is great for full cloud days. The Hi Pink, we found, is great on those total white-out days. It is nearly clear, but with the contrast enhancing Prizm technology on the lens. They're amazing! If you decide to get that, we can order it for you! Call us at 888-831-5817.
