I have the Oakley Radar EV Path. They do have the photochromic lens for it now. I own one. I’d get one of those with that lens with the prescription, then I can pretty much wear that anywhere.

When you (SportRX) say that the back of the lenses are "cut out" or "ground out" to allow for the Rx insert -- is the front of the original lens left intact and not altered? In other words, is the front of the original lens still one smooth surface, and the original tint (coloring), which is on the front of the lens, is unaffected? Lastly, you mention that the Radar lenses only come in single vision prescription and not progressive. What about bifocal? Can/will Oakley do bifocal lenses for the Radar or Radarlock?

+Cameron Ninham Hi Cameron. A better way to think about it is imagine the original shield with two large holes cut into it with a laser. Meaning the shield will have two large holes in it. Then those holes are filled with the prescription lenses. Its kind of like turning part of the shield into a frame that would fit the Rx lenses. So to answer your question you can see the Rx lenses from the front. They protrude out of the rest of the shield. Did that explanation help? We realize these are a bit unique and can be complicated.

Hi! The Radar EV Path w/ embedded Rx lenses has come with mixed reviews. The embedded lens design has rec'd some critique for its aesthetics as well as reported issues with perceived distortion. However, others have praised it for its Rx solution for shield lens designs. They are more expensive and take much longer to produce compared to regular dual lens sunglass models. You'll likely fair better with a flak 2.0 XL. Oakley's EDGE system offers some of the crispest optics in a wraparound frame style with minimal distortion especially pertaining peripheral clarity. I had a pair of imbedded prescription lenses in a pair of Oakleys around 2005. I had problems with micro cracking around the prescription portions that eventually caused the shield to fail. Oakley replaced them for free several times but I finally gave up. I'd like to try again but I wonder if technology has improved.

Hi! A standard single-vision Rx for distance should allow you to view your cyclo computer without having to lift the glasses up. That said, if the problem persists then you may benefit from a multifocal lens such as a progressive design.

Oakley had put a pause on their Rx embedded lens manufacturing due to turnaround time as well as the availability of parts and equipment needed to produce this specific type of lens becoming unreliable during 2020. However, if you give our opticians a call, they may be able to provide more info and potentially place an order for the embedded lens design, athough the turnaround time is currently unknown. +Terry Rich Hi Terry, I get you! Compared to the older M Frame series that used this same embedded lens technology the surface area of the prescription lenses has improved. A little bit more lens would be nice but that could possibly bring up other issues. The larger the lens the more chance their can be distortion. Also a larger lens means a thicker lens. My opinion also is that the visor or shield needs to have some substantial area to avoid cracking and make sure the Rx lens is in there securely. If the shield was to thin around the Rx lens I think their could be more breakage problems. I hear you that this is not the most aesthetically pleasing set up in some peoples opinions, but functionally they work great. I think with this most recent Radar design Oakley found a pretty good balance. If you want to try a pair out give us a call and we would be happy to get an order going for you. +hambone950 No, the Rx lenses are mounted right into that shield and do not remove. Plus Oakley doe not sell just the blank Rx shield. So if that happened you would either have to use your scratch warranty (oakley has a great one on RX orders) or purchase a whole new Rx shield with Rx lenses.
