Well, I've gotten into a plethora of assets with $73k spread across stocks (options and futures) for the short term and Roth IRA, index funds, and ETFs, for the long term. I've been investing with help from a pro fund manager, Herman W Jonas who oversees my investments. Now I sit back and reap my dividends while I just reinvest from time to time.

I agree, and for that reason I prefer to have a financial consultant like Herman make my day-to-day investment decisions. Given that his entire skill set is based on going long and short at the same time as well as employing risk for the asymmetrical upside and laying off risk as a hedge against the inevitable downward turns, coupled with the exclusive information/analysis he's got, it's nearly impossible to not out-perform. I've been using him as my financial consultant and the rate of accrual on my portfolio has been positive over the years.

Even with the right technique and assets some investors would still make more than others. As an investor, you should've known that by now that nothing beats experience and that's final. Personally I had to reach out to a stock expert for guidance which is how I was able to grow my account close to $35k, withdraw my profit right before the correction and now I'm buying again.

We may not want to admit, but as Warren Buffett once said, investing is like any other profession-- it requires a certain level of expertise. Interesting, a number of the most eminent markets experts have been expressing their views on the severity of the impending economic downturn and the extent to which equities might plummet. This is because the economy is heading towards a recession and inflation is persistently above the federal reserve’s 2% target. As I’m aiming to create a portfolio worth not less than $1million before I turn 60, I would appreciate any advice on potential investments.

There are many other interesting stocks in many industries that you might follow. You don’t have to act on every forecast, so I’ll suggest that you work with a financial advisor who can help you choose the best to purchase and sell the shares or ETF’s you want to acquire.

I completely agree, and that's why I highly value entrusting a financial advisor with decision-making authority. Their extensive knowledge and focused training allow them to adeptly manage risk by leveraging its potential for greater returns while also implementing safeguards against adverse outcomes. It's virtually improbable for them to deliver subpar results. Personally, I've achieved a remarkable gain of over 1.5 million dollars during my three-plus years of working with John Desmond Heppolette a financial advisor..

Dear David, your question regarding getting into government was very pertinent and the answer from Howard a glimmer of hope. I urge you and some of the great investors you interview, Howard Mark, Ray Dalio, Jamie Dimon, Stephen A. Schwarzman, to name a few. Please get together and run for presidential election. I know it is a huge task and I am sorry. But as Howard said, it is a moral duty. I am worried for the futur of my children. The world, more than ever, needs America to have great leaders, wise, and moderate, such as you. Warm regards. Pete

This is a shocker seeing Mr. Derrick Alan Sands is being mentioned here. I always had mixed feelings about hiring an advisor. For the record, I started working with Derrick Alan Sands in 2016, and he managed about 70% of my investments while I managed the other 30%. My philosophy is that I care more about my own money than anyone else, but he made me accept that financial advisors have a wealth of information on current conditions and future

David: "If somebody said to you, what is the most common investment mistake that the average person makes, what would you say?" Howard: "Can I do 2? Number 1: People believe in the ability to predict the future, either their ability or others that they can identify. In general, I agree with John Kenneth Galbraith, who said: there are two types of forecasters, the ones who don't know and the ones who don't know they don't know. In general, I think the average person has to learn that they don't know what the future holds and nobody knows either Number 2: People believe that there has to be a direct and mechanical linkage, if the company has a good event, the securities do well, if they have a bad event, the securities do poorly but that's not the case, because there is an intermediate step, which is people's reaction, it's not just whether the event was positive, it's how people reacted to the event, that determines the impact on the security prices. So you can't forget the psychological and human factors."

Sure credit is generally safer but if you're buying at par and it works out, it means the equity has worked out much better.
@ntuthukonxumalo3161

That is not necessarily the case. In the credit investing space, as long as the company is in a solid cash flow position, you should do well. For equities, it's mostly about analyst (or investor) expectations. If the company delivers good financial results but falls below expectations, that can lead to poor equity performance.
@AuditorInvestor
@AuditorInvestor 6 ай бұрын
@@ntuthukonxumalo3161 It's true that if you overpay for equities you can lose anyway - there's no cure for that. Assuming purchase at a 'normal' valuation, the equity should work out better as it got use of the debt capital to generate excess cash flows.
