The 90s brit pop bands were to working class british youth in the 90s, what hip hop was to the youth in America. It was a movement, it was a voice. Oasis' first two albums were the voice of a generation.

I have been watching your music reactions a long time now and i was so happy to see you react to an oasis song they have so many good ones. I was 16 when oasis hit the scene in the 1990s and they were big and i mean big time big. One of many of my favourite rock bands ever and probaly one of the last great rock bands too. You should check out tunes like champagne supernova , wonderwall , masterplan , dont look back in anger , live forever , bring it on down and my personal favourite the white label version of columbia. They have a lot more including covers , i envy you only discovering them now. I hope you enjoy listening to their music like i did in my youth. I seen them three times live and they never let you down amazing show every time. Pity they split but thats the crazy irish blood in them lol. Cheers from ireland

In America, music used to be HEAVILY race coded. Whites had their music and blacks had theirs with those that listened to anything good being a very silent minority for fear of being called a "sell-out" and shamed. The blending kind of started in the early-mid 90s with white youth becoming the biggest consumers of hip-hop, but a true pride in the music you like regardless of genre or the color skin of the artist you like in the U.S. really didn't happen until this decade. You see so many black kids wearing rock and heavy metal shirts now, not afraid to let everyone know that music has no color. Reaction videos like this back in 2009 would have 99% of the comments about the man's race.

You are very perceptive! All of Oasis songs were positive, and had a fighting spirit about them. They came from a humble background in a council estate (public housing) in Manchester where there was poverty and un ermployment. Many of their songs were about being inspired to want something better in life, and they have become like national anthems in the UK. The songwriter, Noel Gallagher wrote songs like Live Forever as an 'answer' to the more negative outlook from bands such as Nirvana. Interestingly, Oasis launched soon after Nirvana ended, and really brought some cheer to rock music fans around the world who were mourning Cobain. Lots of their songs have lessons about life. I recommend you listen to Cigarettes and Alcohol, Rock N Roll Star, Don't Look Back In Anger and Stand By Me. And they have definitely been inspired by The Beatles. They used to do tributes to Lennon on the big screens at their concert during Live Forever. Oh, and Liam appears very cool performing, but off stage, he can talk for hours. He and Noel both have a great sense of humour.
