¡Hola! A bunch of my friends and I rallied to Oaxaca, Mexico on behalf of my sister (Jane Park) from another mister's birthday. I made this vlog with a new camera so excuse the shakiness.

The story behind the song: it came up on my Discover Weekly and I saw the name of the song and played the first bit and liked it. Often times when I’m editing, I’m inspired by the beats and vibrations of a song without even listening to the lyrics or understanding the deeper meaning of a song. And with the track on repeat for hours as I edit, the lyrical part of the song can fade off into the background. This was one of those instances. Regardless, moving forward I’ll make sure to listen more closely and be more careful with my song choices.

My family is from Oaxaca and I just want to say thank you for recording your experience there. I haven’t been there in a while, so your video was very nostalgic to the city I am proud to be from. Another thing I want to thank you for is for showing Mexico in a “real” aspect (if that makes sense) and not shining it away from its artisan work. Gosh I know, I only listened to the first few verses of the song and was tickled by the Oaxaca lyrics. I'm also too zoomed in when I edit and don't focus on the lyrics and didn't realize how... visual the lyrics were until I finished the video. Let's mentally change the lyrics to loving verbs.
