Hi. Thanks for such a great video. I am planning to travel to Oaxaca in 2-3 months. Was there a specific name for the bus company that goes to Monte alban? Also, how much was the bus? is it a return cost u paid for and was Jalatlaco in walking distance from Centro?

Glad you enjoyed the video! There was a little counter at Hotel Rivera del Angel on the sidewalk and then you would get the minivan on the internal side of the hotel where there is a parking lot. At the time, the price was 100 MXN for round trip. They ask you to return in a couple of hours, but there is some flexibility with this. They just don't want everyone to try and get the bus at the same time at the end of the day. Yes, you can easily get to Jalatlaco on foot from El Centro. It's just on the outskirts. Hope you enjoy your trip!

Oaxaca is currently severely stressed by the influx of visitors. New York Times, travel magazine and social media overexposure have brought hundreds of thousands of visitors. Affordable housing for Oaxaqueños is a thing of the past (in part due to Airbnb) and there are severe water shortages. The government prioritizes hotels during the peak drought periods which has led to even hospitals sometimes not having water! It's very tough so if you can make alternative plans it would be a big relief for the residents of this enchanting place.

Thanks for making that point. I had never heard about water not getting to hospitals. That’s terrible. I hope the government can figure out policies that prioritize the needs of oaxaqueños first. I’m sure tourism also brings in revenue to the region but always need to look at addressing negative impacts and whether everyone is feeling the benefit of the pesos coming in.
