Is it a follwership that ridicules your religion or following the way of a non-believer. So, if the imam had gone to the Ọba for permission to go to Hajj and the Ọba says he can't for now, the imam will have to wait till another year. Is that what you meant. Can you compare the King of Ilorin with that of Ogbomosho? Is the present King of Ogbomosho the one who turbans the Imam? Does the king recognize the Imam as Imam? Why should he seek his permission to announce offices that concern the Muslim Community of Ogbomosho? Should the Imam go to the palace after he has been instructed not to visit the palace henceforth until the court case is settled? Can you imagine yourself saying that the Imam should seek the permission of the king before embarking on Hajj? Who was the king of Medinah when the Prophet was there? I think it's better for you to be silent than what comes out from your mouth oh sheikh
@ascendusa16614 ай бұрын
One question for you is: who is the leader of ogbomosho? Another way to ask the question is to ask you if the imam is the leader of ogbomosho? The answer is that the imam is not the leader. He may be an imam over a section of some Muslims like you but he is not the leader of the city. The truth and undeniable fact is that Oba Ghandi, the Soun of Ogbomosho is the constitutionally regnized leader of the kingdom of ogbomosho. You may hate him because he's not a Muslim but it doesn't change the fact and you and the imam are his subjects and MUST submit to his headship. He is king over all the people and all religion in ogbomosho. You MUST respect him. Now, the position of that particular imamship belong to the town ( oye ilu ni) unlike any other imam of other mosques, this particular imam is under the king. Question is did the imam elect himself? As at today, can that imam get into that position without the king appointing him? The answer is NO. Do if he is appointed by the king, he must submit to the king and respect the king. In the same vein, the governor is over the state and everyone including the king must submit to the governor and respect him. If the governors appoint the king, he has the right to remove king as we see in Kano and also previously in Sokoto ( Dasuki). Likewise, if the king stool appoints the imam, he can also remove the imam. I just don't understand why a section of Muslims are bent on causing strife in Yoruba land. We must respect authority whether they practice our religion or not. I believe underlying this issue is the fact that the king is not a Muslim but that's immaterial. For example, the governor is a Christian, but can you date not obey his authority because you are a Muslim? Neither could Christian disobey the authority of governor of Sokoto because they are Christians and not under his religion. Please put region apart, its personal to you and don't bring religion into whats really not about religion. The king has NEVER tell any Muslim not to practice his religion but he's demanding is for the imam not to disrespect his rightful authority. If the imam refused, he will lost in this issue. Mark my words.
@adedokunmushafa50964 ай бұрын
How does that question relate to this issue please? The Imam is the leader of all Muslims in Ogbomosho while the king is the leader of all Ogbomosho inhabitants. Can you answer my initial questions please? I've answered yours.
@ascendusa16614 ай бұрын
@@adedokunmushafa5096 First, my response is a combine response to your comment and the video overall. Second, to answer more of your questions about whether the imam should seek or not to seek the permission of the king, the imam should have notify the king or stay any action of appointing people until the resolution of the court. His actions are confrontational to the constituted authority of the king. He does not have to go to the palace to notify the king and seek his permission even though I’ve followed this issue and I’ve never heard that any Ogbomosho citizens can not go to the palace. Imaging a king challenging and confronting a governor the way the imam is doing, what do you think will happen. When the Oluwo said the masquerades in iwo can not celebrate their religion, the governor quickly call him to order and oluwo quickly retraced his steps because he knows what can follow. Having said this, If you read my post carefully and objectively you will realize that your question was already answered. Nobody is disputing that your imam is a leader over his Muslim people following him. Not even all Muslim in ogbomosho accept him as their imam but that not the issue I want to address. My point to you is that the imam is not a leader of all ogbomosho but the king is the leader of all ogbomosho whether Muslim, Christians or isese people. Your religion came to meet the institution of kings in ogbomosho and you must respect that. Just like everyone or any religious group in Ilorin or any other domain with Muslim king MUST respect the authority of the king. Christianity met Islam and emirship in Ilori and they can not say because their number have increase the emit has no authority over them. If they cause trouble or try to destabilize the domain of the emir, trust me he will challenge them and confront them without anyone reading religion into it. Its his authority. The only areas king and emir can not cross the line is in telling people not to practice their religion. That will be going against the fundamental guaranteed right of everyone according to the secular Nigeria constitution. As far as imams and religious grouping that are private are concern, the king has no direct authority over them except for the general authority over his domain. That is the position of the law. However, as far as this particular central mosque is concerned, it belongs to the king’s family. No imam has ever been appointed without the king including Teliat. Whoever has the authority to appoint also has the authority to sanction even remove. Just like the king is directly under the governor and must respect and submit to the governor’s authority or else will get into trouble like Sanusi of Kano, Dasuki of Sokotio. That my friend is the position of the Nigerian constitution even if you don't like it. The governor can not directly remove the imam but Oba Ghandi can. So also Oba Gjandi has no direct authority to remove any other imam in his domain since they are private religious grouping. In the same vein, Oba Ghanfi can not remove any pastor in his domain because they are private religious organization with no similar arrangement as the central mosque. My points here is that the king even as a Christian has authority over the imam and the particular mosque. However, he can not use that authority to tell the people not to practice their religion and he has NEVER done that. In the same vein, the Muslim emir of ilorin and oba Iwo can not tell Christians and isese people not to practice their faith. The problem of people like you is that you are very intolerant and therefore disrespect and hate people who don't practice or accept your religion. You call them kafir ( unbelievers). Do you know that as far as the king and Christians and Isese people are concerned, you are also Kafir ( unbelievers in their faith too). So everybody is relatively an unbeliever in the other group’s religion, including you. Lets face it, some Muslims are not happy the king is not a Muslim. The other question is, are Muslims the only one in ogbomosho? Why must the king always be a Muslims? Historically, there had been Christian, Muslim and isese king in ogbomosho and whats the cause of all these nonsense and disrespect now? All previous king have always have authority over that particular mosque. Is it because the current king is not just a Christian but a pastor? Well live with it. Christians and isese people are living with oluwo as king and with emir Ilorin as the leader of their domain. Nuff said

@@ascendusa1661 Your points and position may be valid if there had been cordial relationship between the king and the Imam. Do you know efforts has been made by the Imam to resolve this amicably but otherwise frustrated? If you were put to the wall, you'll definitely speak out. If you've been following the issues from onset without missing any details, I believe you will have a better perspective of what is happening.

THE NEED TO REVISIT THE INFLUENCE OF TRADITIONAL RULERS IN THE APPOINTMENT OF IMAM IN YORUBALAND There is a Yoruba adage: 'aye là ba'fa, ayé làbá imole, lọsan gangan n'igbagbọ wọlé dé '. This adage confirms the existence of Islam in Yorùbá land long time ago before the coming of European colonial masters who brought Christianity to Nigeria. It is not unusual that almost in all the major towns in Yorùbá land, central mosques exist side by side with the palaces. History has it that the earliest Muslims in many of Yorùbá towns and cities were either invited by the traditional rulers who were Muslims or they were accepted and given spaces closed to the palaces to build their mosques in order to live close to the Obas. This, because of the respect the traditional rulers had for such Alfas and the spiritual powers they believed they were possessed of. Such Alfas eventually served as spiritual guides and advisors for the Obas. Some of such traditional rulers who accepted Islam later became the vanguards of Islamic propagation in their domains. Examples of such traditional rulers who became promoters of Islam in their domains are Oba Memudu Lagunju who ruled as Timi of Ede and Oba Momodu Lamuye who ruled as Oluwo. The two of them implemented Sharia law in their towns; Ede and Iwo and as well established Shari'a court for that purpose. It was this synergies between the Yoruba Obas in Yoruba towns and mutual respect between them that culminated into the influence the Yoruba traditional rulers have had in who become the Chief Imams of the cities and towns. Despite this fact, the respect between the Obas and Imams was mutual. The earlier Yorùbá traditional rulers held the Chief Imams in high esteem and hence, the popular statement, 'alfa ni Bàbá Ọba' i.e, Islamic Clerics are the fathers of Kings. The Imams in those days were highly respected by all and sundry. There was no incidence of an Oba purporting to dethrone an Imam for whatever reason whatsoever. It is therefore a great absurdity when today the incidence of Obas imposition of anybody, qualified or not qualified as well as attempts to dethrone Imams on the excuse that he who hires can fire has become so rampant. The absurd practice on appointment of Chief Imams have become so far and embarrassing that if the office of Imam and Oba is vacant, filling of the vacant position of the Chief Imam has to wait until the Oba is appointed no matter how long. An example of this is the office of the Chief Imam of Oyo that has remained vacant due to the vacancy in the office of Alaafin of Oyo. Some years back, the Timi of Ede, Oba Munirudeen Adesola Lawal, Laminisa 1 took some steps to suspend the Chief Imam of Ede for a reason that is only political until the intervention of well meaning individuals and groups in and outside of Ede. This kind of action is embarrassing not only to the office of the Chief Imam but the entire Muslims. It then becomes more embarrassing when such Oba is a Christian like the current issue between the Soun of Ogbomoso, a Christian pastor and Chief Imam of Ogbomosoland, Sheikh Taliat Yunus where the former purportedly issued a query to the latter for daring to make a pilgrimage to hajj which is a fundamental aspect of Islam without his permission. Perhaps, one day, Oba ghandi will want the Chief Imam to seek for his permission before performing salat. It needs to be stated without doubt that the position of an Imam is a purely Islamic position guided by the Shari'a. It is not a chieftaincy matter guided by Chiefs law of States. Therefore, the appointment and discipline of Imams, if necessary, should be in accordance with the Shari'a. While it may not be out of place to involve the traditional rulers in the ceremony that follows the appointment of Imams in Yorubaland, the appointment needs to be strictly done by the Muslim Community of the town through a shurah committee. Finally, Yoruba Obas should accord the Chief Imams their well-deserved respect, honour and dignity as it used to be between the Obas and Imams of the olden days.

@@MukadamMutolib You are really wrong. The king has authority over the imam and all inhabitants of ogbomoso land whether Muslims or Christians. As long as you as a Muslim reside in the land, you are under the authority of the king. Ibere ote ni yi. This is what you Muslims will not accept but you can ditch it to others. The only thing the king can not do is to tell Muslims that they can not practice their religion as that’s against the fundamental rights of Muslims to practice their religion. The king authority is over his domain and over all his subjects irrespective of his religious belief. You just confirmed my statement by pointing that the king is not a Muslim and the previous king was a Muslim and this issue would not have beef the case. You know why, if the previous king were alive, you will not have brought religion into a matter that was not an inter religious matter. The issue is between imam and the Ayilara family but the king as the leader of his domain and the custodian of that mosque has the right and authority to arbitrate over the issue. For example, if a religious case is before a Christian judge, would you say the judge has no right to preside because he’s not a Muslim? In the same vein, can Christian or churches fighting and in court say a Muslim judge can not preside? Habba e je ka fo gbon si!! Let’s be tolerant and not cause strife in Yoruba land. Nuff said.

@@MukadamMutolib Please answer this question: if Muslims are fighting and disturbing the peace on a mosque founded by the king’s ancestors and that’s continually under the king’s domain and for which every imam from time immemorial have been appointed by the kings both Christians, Muslims and isese kings, should the king the new king who is a christian now says I am just going to let them keep fighting because I don’t practice their religion? Another question is this: when there is disorder and fighting among Muslims perhaps to the point of physical fighting and killing, should your Christian governor say I’m not going to intervene because it’s a Muslim religious matter? Should your king not be involved and let the people tear themselves apart because he doesn’t practice your religion? Another way to ask the question is: if two Muslim sects or even a group of Muslims are fighting and they go to court and the sitting judge is a Christian, should the judge do his job or withdraw and say oro esin Islam ni mi o le da si? Let’s use our brain. Ibere ote no eyin Muslim nse yi. You actually confirmed the fact that some Muslims are behaving this way and disrespecting the king because he’s a Christian whereas Muslims are not the only ones in ogbomosho. So if it was still the former king, it will have been resolved? Probably because your type will not be saying the nonsense that he’s oba keferi. May be we can break Nigeria into two, one country for Christians and one for Muslims. Whether you like it or not, Christians, isese practitioners and Muslims will always dwell in Yoruba land.
