+Gina Amadin Actually, Yoruba is only a term coined out to classify a common people who mostly trace their origin to Ife. They have kingdoms established by Oduduwa but absorbed into the Old Oyo empire by the domineering Oyo Emperor's who extended their dominance beyond what is now called Nigeria into the Dahomey kingdoms and modern day Togo while forcing other farther kingdoms to become tributaries. Only Ife was not made to pay tribute as Oyo feared the wrath of Oranmiyan who was said to have cursed Ife's enemies before joining his ancestors. The Oyo empire waned eventually after suffering from over expansion and political instability. The absorbed kingdoms began to secede starting with the Egba, others became independent of Oyo, even Dahomey and then Ilorin made its attempt to secede which caused it's leader to invite Fulanis to help him fight Oyo. Well, they assassinated him and took over the land. You should know the rest of the story. You need not mock the yorubas. they know who they are. We don't need tantrums, what we need is progress. Do not deceived yourself. If you want to know the king who owns Nigeria, the ancient, the King who all the world recognised as the king of Nigeria/Africa go read history of England and Africa how they came to Africa and which King they deal with at of centuries ago then you will know your history, England know and respect only one king in Africa and that king is Oba of Benin. ORAMIYAN later left Igodomigodo/Benin Kingdom to found Oyo Kingdom although before leaving he impregnated a Enogie ( Duke) daughter who gave birth to Eweka. Therefore, the Benins/Igodomigodos are the Ruler of Ile-ife and Oyo Kingdom in now called Yoruba land ( which was given to them by Hausa traders). Btw, I'm not Benin but the truth must be told.

Ife does not know or recognise Ekhaladerhan as Oduduwa Adimula never told our ancestors such story. My question is, must we then continue to argue over this? If our kings had continued with this back and forth debate, would they be meeting and seeking ways to curb the challenges bedevilling us today? We need to wake up and focus on things that unite. The first ooni of ife was a prince from Benin. To cut it short, the ooni of ife was a prince from Benin, and when they lied against him, he was chased out of Benin palace and he later arrived in ife and said "ilefe" today changed to "ileife" mean (I ran and survived 'in Edo') then when the Benin king died, there was no one to replace him, they then went to ife and asked him to come home to take his father throne, but he refused and sent his son to take the throne. I think it's a Nepotism and unlettered for anyone to say the king that bear ife is greater than the king that said ife, because ife is an Edo word. 29:11:2018 to 2020.

Historians all over the world regard such an account (that says a certain Ekaladerhan became king in Ife) as *Apocryphal, Pseudohistorical and Deliberately Unauthentic.* Provide me reference to any historical account prior to 1970 which says that a certain Ekaladerhan became king in Ife. None exist. lol. The Ekaladerhan account is a forgery of the 1970s. Let me know if you need more light on this.

He said “let those people say anything they like, they can even say that Lagos belongs to Iraq. But the truth is that “history of Lagos and her Yoruba heritage dates back to 10th century which no one can eraze.” His statement was on the Benin origin of Eko's Monarchy, and not that the Binis did not meet the natives when they first came here in the mid-late 1600s. I challenge you to provide a line where he said the Binis did not meet any native in Lagos when they first arrived. I await your response, but it has to be reasonable this time, otherwise, otherwise, hmmm ... let me not talk.

There are different tales motivated by politics but one thing keeps recurring and that is the issue of Benin interference in the lives of the true natives of what is now called Lagos. Prince Ado from Benin came with a millitary expedition and met a leadership system of white cap chiefs on the land. He was however made king on the island but his lineage lost the throne along the line. On the oba of Lagos issue, get this fact straight, the only royal family with direct heritage to Bini through the patrilineal line is the Akinsemoyin royal lineage. Since the time of Ologun- Kutere, they have been prevented from presenting an Oba. Every Oba of Lagos since Ologun- Kutere since 1749 have been direct descendants of Alaagba, an Ijesha man and of direct Ijesha heritage. Ologun- Kutere was 75% yoruba because his father was Ijesha and his royal mother was half Bini and half yoruba (Awori). Find facts from the Palace of the Oba of Lagos, you will realise he needs to be schooled. EVEN he has now said Lagos does not belong to Benin and wants to write on the matter. There is nowhere in Lagos where Bini language is indigenous and that includes the palace of the Oba of Lagos. You should go research on Ologun- Kutere origin and see why the Oba of Lagos is nowhere near the Ooni of Ife in the ranking of Kings. If he wants, he can pledge his allegiance to Bini. It won't change this fact and after his reign, his errors will be erased. It is fair to see Lagos as a point of unification of Binis and yorubas but it remains yoruba territory as even Isakole (tribute) to Benin from Eko stopped long before colonialism. Their loyalty to Ife was strong. Please do not jump on bandwagons without finding facts. We love the Oba of Benin. He is more or less a father to us because he is still perceived as our prince who left Ife and is expected to return home. If you mean well, you will drop supremacist tantrums and join the train of progress. Yorubas and Binis need to stop this continuous back Nd forth arguments. They don't build us at all...

Where the power rise really came from in these two cultures and at what time. Both Great civilisation had their power at different times. Ife and Oyo were in my understanding is far older. It is also true that there are many dipictions of Yoruba speaking people in many different parts of Africa and even Europe (Spain to be precise) 2. The likes of Orunmila, Agbonniregun , Sango & Ogun lived way long before these times, If you recall, when Oduduwa got to Ife, The Oracle had foretold of these things. My questions are, if the bini people already exist it means they have a king before the sit was empty, why was orumiyan seen by the Yoruba as the first oba or Benin? Then if bini needs a king, why will they allow a non Benin if it’s not from a royal lineage? It shows that the Benin narrative is correct. Because there is not record of war fought by this two kingdoms before Orumiyan was appointed to be a king of Benin. And he probably wet back to be a king in ife because if he’s the first king of Benin he should have maximum superiority over the people of Benin as his dad Oduduwa was in Ife.
