President Obama focused much of his 45 minute speech on enhancing economic development in Kenya as well as supporting equality and anti-corruption initiatives.
Speaking of gender inequality, Obama stated, “Those are bad traditions that need to change … they have no place in the 21st Century.”
“People should be judged by the content of their character,” he added.
However, Obama failed to directly address the issue of discrimination against lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer communities in East Africa, which Kenyan president Uhuru Kenyatta called a “non-issue” on Saturday.
Obama was speaking at the Safaricom Indoor Arena in Nairobe, Kenya.

I feel blessed to have Barack Obama as President of the United States. I get chocked up when I see a video like this, especially one where he is addressing the people of his father's homeland, where he is connecting with his roots. I feel very proud that I did canvassing work for his political campaign in 2008 and 2012. This President makes the United States the best it can be in the world. A leader like this comes once in a lifetime, so I hope the last year of his presidency goes by very slowy.

+Ronaldo Sanchez I choked up to honestly. Even someone who dislikes Obama should feel deeply for the history unfolding in this video. This event is the American Dream incarnate. The Founding Fathers of this country would be so proud of what it became. Just 150 years ago Kenyans immigrated to the U.S. by force for slavery. Now a Kenyan can immigrate to the U.S., and his son can become President. This video is truly proof that the American Dream is possible. I'm proud to have a President whose own life symbolizes how far this country has come since Lincoln's time.

Obama is the 1st who speaks openly about women in Africa. No leader has spoken about these retarded traditions before. All kids needs attention and education. If Africa wants to be exceptional why dont you start treating your own people with DIGNITY and give them possibilties to achieve? As Obama said you should known better as the history shown. Its all in those brains and hearts to make a major difference to change for the better.

What I love the most about Mr Obama is that he's honest with his past and he's homeland from where he was born. But not like Trump who hide his family members behind in he's election when he become the 45 president. That's why I love about Mr Obama he's such honest president I which he could come back and become the USA president again. We love you so much Mr Obama you're the best and the world misses me already 😘🙌🏾👍🏾👏🏾👌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾you are the man!

Well, the guy is Kenyan-American. I am too.. In simple terms, it's imperative to put it straight that "There's no limit to what you can be." Needless to say, Most so called "third world countries" have very apparent challenges that ultimately affect the primary pith of the economy and the culture as well, but, that doesn't mean we're silly or ignorant people. I'm proud of Barack Obama, for standing his ground, pledging his allegiance to the United States of America (where I partially belong), but at the same time lifting his head up high as an African American. God bless America! God bless Africa! One love!!!

He clearly stated that the future of africa is determined by africans. There are more pressing issue in africa than sexual orientation. in a continent where there is high child mortality rate and their likelihood of reaching adolescence is low (compared to other continents); who they prefer to love as their life partner is a remote 100th priority!
