I have followed these gals since Eva was 6 or 7 yrs. old, playing the trumpet, Na Golici was the song, and how well she has matured is very obvious. It is a very sad day, to admit they have moved on, for whatever reason. Few, in my opinion, can achieve what these gals have done and I truly wish them future success in their individual careers. May they be immune to cultural and political intrigue, as some would hint at and simply become what they want to be!

This is actually so called oberkrainer music of slovenian origin the creator was slavko avsenik he sold 30 million plattes he created.The oberkrainer music consists of five instruments klarinet trumpet bariton guitar and accordion.He wrote slovenian music in slovene language but because it was very good they invited him to austria and later to germany too so he translated his music to german. So nowadays when oberkrainer bands from slovenia make music they make it in slovene and german

Tut mir leid...may I ask a few questions in English? First, I love the Oberkrainer Polka Madels. I have watched all of their videos many times. But I can see they have had many different members. Does one group "retire" and another group take the group name, Oberkrainer Polka Madels? Also, in this video, the young lady playing accordion...why does she never smile? Is she nervous about performing? Last, how many groups of ladies have used the group name?

Unfortunately my maps of ethnic distribution date back a 100 years, I cannot say what the situation is now. In Kärnten (Austrian Staat) there is a Slovenian minority. I would expect that there is a minor Austrian, German or other Northern presence even to this date in Slovenia. Those who know, will tell you the rest.

The "Krain" is the "Land" , and the "Ober" is the upper, so the Oberkrain must be in the middlce of two lands, in this case the named A. and S. Slovenians, as a minority, live in Austria, in this case, and Austrians (or Germans, as it was usual to name them) lived in Slovenian parts.
