5 years ago I started my fitness journey, going from 220 lbs to as low as 150 lbs. Over the last few years I’ve fluctuated between 150-182 lbs but have always managed to work the weight back off. While I did a lot of research on nutrition and exercise, I have to admit that while I was successful in losing weight, I truly did not understand how much I didn’t know and how I fell into the trap of cutting calories and working out to exhaustion. Your channel has absolutely changed my life. I’m in Phase 3 of MAPS Aesthetic and am in the best shape of my life while eating way more than I ever did in the last 5 years. My physique is progressing to a level I’ve never been and I can’t be happier. My ultimate goal is to get to a 12-15% body fat range and to maintain it for life. Currently about 4-5% away… cheers to Mind Pump and the whole team! Let’s goooooooo 💪😎

this is so important, i've been training my 60 year old mother who has been obese for a large part of her life. its crazy because she's a very active person, always working around the house and gardening, and i think her body just adapted to that level of activity whilst at her size. i'm really proud of her because she has made steps toward changing her health and lifestyle. she started on her stationary bike outside every morning, increasing her endurance over time. now she's taken it further and we're doing weight training 2 times a week. she's already seeing improvements after about a month. i'm so happy and proud to help her, i've always said i would but it had to come from her own will. my main goal is to focus on muscle growth first. cause i know if i just teach her the movements and form, and help her enjoy that experience as she notices changes in her body and gets stronger, i feel everything else will lead into the way it is supposed to. thank you so much for all the information you share and your service to us!!!! ❤

I discovered your show through first listening to an interview a few weeks ago on the Dru Purohit podcast, featuring Sal. That was the most eye opening, truth revealing, fantastic talk that has answered so many questions I've had over the past 8 years. I'm 53 yrs old, in the best shape of my life on the outside, but struggling on the inside! I've been super discouraged (up until now) that even though I would exercise on average 3 hours a day (yoga, cardio, strength), I still had to eat like a bird in order to maintain. If I let go either my strict diet or the exercise schedule, I'd start to gain weight. I tracked my calorie/macro intake a couple times over the past couple years, and my maintenance calories always came out to around 1600 a day. But I really felt like I should be able to eat at least 2200-2500, based on my activity! Lo and behold, Sal and your team has provided all the answers, and I'm extremely thankful and excited to embark on a reverse diet and do an overhaul on my schedule - decreasing it dramatically. NO doubt, I've been overtraining. I'm also struggling with gut issues - very likely SIBO - as well as a body fat percentage that I'm learning from you is probably not healthy for the long run and may be also limiting my healing. The In Body scans I've done over the past 2 years always show my body fat always between 12-15%, currently 13. I love how I look right now, but realize that my health is suffering regarding hormones and sleep, but kinda unsure how to go forward and maintain my sculpted look. Thanks for all the incredible information, encouragement, and guidance you guys provide us with!!

I'm a uaw member in Michigan. What you gentleman haven't considered in your commentary is we bailed these companies out in 2008 and gave major concessions to the companies that we were supposed to get back and we still have not been made whole. We also went decades without raises then we were given 6% over 8 year. These companies could pay us what we are asking for and not raise the price of the vehicles and they would still be making billions of dollars a year. Right now the labor cost is 6%.

Thank you guys for all you do! I’ve got several family members who are considered obese and/or have Type 2 diabetes, and I definitely would have been on that same path until the last few years of taking more ownership of my health and being willing to make gradual changes for the better. My husband came across this channel earlier this year, and we have both greatly enjoyed the content and info you share about strength training and nutrition. We both started reverse dieting about 2 months ago to build our metabolisms up, and I’m amazed at the changes we’ve felt already!

A trainer at my gym had shown me you guys a few times and I’ve been watching recently and i can’t say thank you enough for making this content!!! I feel like this realistic, real people, training is hard to find out there. Having the multiple opinions and the way y’all talk about things is nice to see today. Much appreciated. And in this episode specifically, thank you for speaking on this and bringing the truth to hopefully more people. I feel what I’ve found the most in my fitness journey is people who just want to tear themselves down, with hard workouts, no food and I knew there has to be a better way. I have a client who is obese and she has been on a journey with me for the last few months and I’ve used things yall have talked about in videos like these that have really helped me to articulate things better to her. So again, thank you so much for what y’all do!!!!!!!!

Sooo agree with you and those two simple health metrics. I realized I had minimal grip strength and last week was doing a simple warm up my wife recommended where you get down on your right side get up and repeat with left, on your back then on your front. Ten get ups from each position. That humbled me and really made me rethink my fitness thanks again.

I've been listening/watching this channel only since this summer, but now I'm hooked and can't skip an episode ! I definitely made the mistake of losing body weight just doing cardio without weight lifting. I've lost more than 50 pounds in a couple of years, sure, but let's just say I had a nasty surprise when I tried a bench press series after that. I'm now on the (hopefully not too long) road of undoing damage I did to myself by recovering muscle with weight lifting 3 times a week and vastly increasing my protein intake. Keep up the good work guys and thanks for those great tips !

Really wonderful place I'm happy to raise my boys in (mom of 3. Soon to be 4 boys 😅).

A few years ago I lost 80lb+ going from 235-150. I lost the fat that was ailing yes, but I lost about 5 years worth of muscle. Convinced myself it was healthy, I still kinda believe it was better than being overweight but the jury is out. Anyway, years later I’m 190lb and STRONG, glad I figured it out even if I was slow getting there

Also, the blue zone idea that Okinawan's get most of their diet from purple and orange sweet potatoes is BS. My family is originally from Okinawa, the traditional meals are built around pork or fish with tofu included as a side. Hell, you get fish with eggs for breakfast. Last time my family visited I hit 0.6 grams of protein per pound of bodyweight while vacation eating. The only time sweet potatoes was the majority of the diet was right after WW2 because all the pigs had died/were eaten in the final year of the war. That is why everyone eats tons of SPAM (it was the only source of pork post war so it became part of the culture). I had SPAM Musubi in my lunch box while all the other kids had PB&J or Lunchables at school.

I feel like fitness missed this idea. It's so much on lose weight, but my friends don't ask me what I do when I look better than them. They usually ask when I do something they can't or can't anymore. That's when they ask about workouts. That should be the selling point of fitness, making life better.

I got grilled on Instagram because i shit on someone's post about doing "cozy cardio", It's just rebranded walking in sweat pants. But I said it was a defeatist, and weak mindset to have towards your overall fitness, because walking is the bare minimum level of entry. Oh people were mad, I got called a bigoted fatphobic Nazi because I told people they should weight train. I got called a bad father, a lot of gym rat and "not everyone wants to look like a body builder" comments. It's always the people who haven't tried to build muscle who think it's the easiest.

Big 3 auto makers were already going bankrupt, UAW is just speeding that up. Invest in Tesla, the only car company that makes profitable EVs.

With the car industry why don’t you research what their workers gave up in 2008+ and how much the CEOs paid themselves bonus. To say it would be an issue to pay workers raises they gave for years is ridiculous.

You guys are so close to being right about what's going on in the economy/monetary system. You will see much higher inflation and possibly hyperinflation in some asset classes and simultaneously massive deflation in others. Ultimately the currency itself and the ability for our government to create it is the root problem, the fire if you will while the car prices and such are the smoke to use your own analogy. Anyways keep up the great work. I'm back up to the weight/shape I was at about a year ago when I got lyme disease and your show has definitely played a huge part in that.

02:47 not necessarily. I don't ingest any carbs, sugar or otherwise and still have perfect glycogen status through gluconeogenesis, a mechanism humans have evolved with. Seriously guys, you are too good in general to allow yourself to put out such an inaccurate statement...
