Many fans suspected for a long time that Obi-Wan Kenobi knew about Anakin's and Padme's relationship all along, at least to an extent and chose to remain quiet about it. Well, the final season of the Clone Wars sort of confirmed that with this masterful scene in which it is flat-out stated that Obi-Wan knows about Anakin and Padme.

To what extent do you think Obi-Wan was aware of Anakin's relationship with Padme? My guess is that he suspected Anakin and Padme had feelings for each other and stayed in touch if you will but I doubt he was aware of their marriage. What is your take on it?

there's meant to be a deleted scene from Revenge of the Sith where Obi Wan visits Padme and they discuss her and Anakin in a rather subtle manner, but he acknowledges that he knows but pretends that he doesn't for the sake of Anakin's happiness or something to that effect.

@@jptheflipper3825 If I remember right, then in the novelization he pretty much states that he knew, but turned a blind eye to it because it made Anakin happy. And while the novelization is of questionable canon nowadays, I would still like to recommend it to people. I see it as one of the best pieces of Star Wars fiction written, Legends or Disney, and it really helps explain some of the plot holes or more confusing parts of the film. Just be preprepered for some oddities here and there, if you are mainly familiar with the Disney canon (Ashoka doesn´t exist, Dooku is a space racist etc.).

At the same time what would be the path in telling him? Maybe Anakin never felt the time was right or perhaps he would have been more honest about it if there hadn't been a galactic wide War. I mean I'm sure Obi-Wan would encourage him to detach himself but who knows maybe it could be the crack in reforming the order and finding a way to have a lover well still not being overly attached

Obi-Wan did and didn't know about the affair. I mean, he's been in love too with Satine. However, he never would have guessed the two of them actually slept together or got married. He basically compared their relationship to his own with Satine's. So yeah, he knew they were in love, but he underestimated how far they went.

The thing is that Jedi are not forbidden from having feelings or even sex, they're only forbidden from forming attachments. Obi-Wan likely beleived they had been having an affair and grew worried that Anakin had become far too attached. Even of the Council had found out, they couldn't really do anything about it. Anakin was far too famous of a General and a War Hero to simply be kicked out if the Order. The Political Backlash would be insane. They'd likely allow him to stay until the end of the war, then Anakin and Padme would move to Naboo and live their lives until Luke and Leia were born and they had to worry about them being Force Sensitive.

Aayla Secura and Kit Fisto had a thing for a time, Quinlan Vos was all over the place you know, and Anakin and Padme was basically an open secret. In Legends there's even a scene where Obi-Wan catches the 2 of them on a romantic retreat on Naboo and he doesn't bring it up hardly at all

I feel like there's a certain level of understanding. He also fell in love with Satine and still likely had lingering feelings for her after their first departure. After her death in Obi Wans arms im sure he felt a sense of lingering regret or guilt for not choosing to be open with his feelings for her and running away with her when he had the chance. Seeing Anakin with Padme and being ok with it was probably his way of not wanting that regret to be with Anakin too.

The irony of the Jedi is they were ultimately responsible for their own demise, & it was their existence as a massive order that overall caused the imbalance in the force that led to it. If they hadn't tried to purge the Sith, & brand the dark side of the force as inherently evil there would be no balance based prophecy. Think about it. They spent years purging & fearing & even hating the Sith which led them to the majority of them being wiped out. Now there is only a handful of them left, & the dark side has regained a foothold. Of course this means inevitably the Sith will in turn lead to their own destruction yet again. Ironically their relationship has created a paradox as a result of the sort of symbiotic nature of their relationship, & until either side is written to understand that for balance to exist in the force, for them to essentially exist that they need each other. The light side can not exist without the dark side. It's a basic fundamental law of reality. Good defines evil & evil defines good. It's an ironic situation. Lol
