I also like this theory for another reason. To the knowledge of everyone in Konoha, Obito died in the war, fighting for Konoha. Which means that, if Shisui was indeed his younger brother, he would look at his older brother as a martyr who died for Konoha. This could help explain why Shisui would be so blindly loyal, to the point of spying his own clan for the sake of the village

Probably is, I wouldn't be surprised if Madara is the one who also killed Obito's parents. Also Madara having kids is likely cuz of his status in the Uchiha clan. He was heir and then leader. His child would be the next leader unless another Uchiha usurped power... Like what happened when he left the clan. Uchihas also keep track of lineages, So Obito being a black sheep of his clan can be explained because he is related to Madara, his grandfather, a dishonored exile. The eye Danzo took is the “Lesser” Kotoamatsukami, which can be used far more regularly but can be broken out of. Crow Eye is the “Greater” Kotoamatsukami, which can’t be used often at all but also isn’t something one can just break out of.

And I would like to add that NCHummer is very bias when talking about the Uchiha and in multiple occasions he has mentioned his dislike of the clan, and his not taking certain things into consideration, like you expect the power of the remove set sharingan to still function as they did with the original user, Example when sasuke had Itachi's eyes, he didn't get access to the tsukuyomi, even though he had both eyes, Kakashi had access to the kamui but he couldn't phase through walls or subjects And one might argue that the phase through walls power is from the right eye but I think that if Kakashi's can pull things from this dimension to another then obito's pulls things from his pocket dimension to this world So my argument is you can't expect the powers of the eyes to behave or perform exactly or just as powerful as they would with their original user And given the fact that shisui died at 16, awakened his mangekyo at 7 so, how accurate is Itachi's information about the 10 years down time, and how did shisui become famous with a jutsu that can only be seen once in 10 years, make sense of that

The more likely theory is that Obito's base Sharingan specializes in genjutsu, just like Itachi's and that Obito honed his genjutsu to an extremely high degree in a short period of time due to the Hashirama cells. The reason why he wanted Shisui's eye so bad is probably because letting the Hidden Leaf recover Shisui's eye would be a bad idea, as they'd probably use it on him or Sasuke which would be a problem. I don't think Obito had any immediate family but Kishimoto definitley missed an opportunity to go into intra-clan lore and relationships.

Shisui got 2 different mangekyo powers. Itachi had the one changing a persons intentions permanent. danzo has the one to mind controll people actively which is why he was exposed at the kage summit since the byakugan sensed the chakra usage of shisuis eye

I think you're forgetting that Obito had been birthed with 2 eyes of Insight, both containing alternate versions of Kamui. If his Koto-level Genjutsu did come from a Sharingan, it had to have come from one that was implanted. Therefore, the EMS theory of taking Shisui's Koto eye from Danzo would only work if he had another close descendant of Kagami's eyes already. That doesn't necessarily link Shisui's lineage to Obito, just whoever's eye Obito was running for said Genjutsu. Assuming EMS does in fact have to bear close genetic relation.

Couldnt it be argued that Shisui's Koto was said to be stronger because it was used by him? I feel like Kakashi was significantly weaker using his MS than Obito and I feel it could be argued it was because he had Uchiha blood but it was also HIS MS. So maybe it was harder to detect when Shisui used it or harder to break someone out of? I feel like there has to be a reason its hearld as "the strongest genjutsu" when it could be stopped so easily.

I feel like "strongest genjutsu" is something of a misnomer in this case. For example, Tsukuyomi is more powerful in terms of what it can do, but Koto is far more subtle and nearly impossible to notice. You can argue that that makes it stronger because you usually don't want people to know you've used genjutsu on them.

I definitely think there's some good merit to this idea. It would add just a bit more depth to the murky waters, which is the Uchiha as a larger clan. The main story focuses so hard on individuals and has a tendency to lump the rest as either dying in a war or the massacre. Fleshing out the rest of Konoha and its clans has always been something I've wanted from the series. It's like Kishimoto will open a door and let you look inside for about 5 minutes. Then he shuts it indefinitely 😅

1 The eye of insight and the eye of hypnotism are not literally restricted to certain eyes in chapter 26 pg 13 this concept is introduced with Kakashi fighting with Zabuza and Kakashi has only one sharingan. 2 Mei Terumī is the one at the five kage summit to draw the connection between kotoamatsukami and the genjutsu that Yagura Karatachi was under. chapter 461 pg 10-11

We have literally seen Obito's grandma in the earliest flashback prior to Kakashi's dad dying. Kakashi was an entirely different person back then. I think Rin even helped Obito through his Grandma's death. Something about how he has her, and isn't alone. So while I can get behind Obito and Shisui being closely related. I imagine it would be more of a cousin situation where they both share the same Grandfather, but Kagami had more than one child who later sired some grandchildren I think I like the idea that Madara stole Kagami's Sharingan, maybe even got him killed during the war, and popped it into his own head, before Obito's head. They used the same Genjutsu, but as the eye most suited for Obito is more effective for him and has the highest chance to evolve if Obito and Kagami are somewhat closely related. Plus, if your theory about switching Shisui's eye causing it to evolve is true, then that would've been even more haxx than he already was.

About the dual EMS allowing for perfect Susano’o theory, I think it’s a pretty definite no. We saw Kakashi use the perfect Susano’o and we know that EMS is only attainable by heirs of the Uchiha bloodline since for one you have to be related to the person you get the eyes from, and also need to have your own sharingan for the second set of eyes to fill in. I always just picture the image Itachi shows Sasuke with the dual set of eyes stacked on top of each other. Unless we say Obito had EMS when he transferred his abilities to Kakashi, but then again he never used Susano’o when he should’ve been able to even with just one sharingan (since Sasuke does the same, unless the rinne-sharingan works differently and is like his second sharingan idk)

I like the idea of both theories being simultaneously true. Obito & Shisui being descendants of Kagami because of the shared Brainwashing Genjutsu Prowess. Madara stealing at least one of Kagami's eyes, and giving it to Obito kind of sets Obito up for better easily unlocking Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan while also not only stealing at least one of Kagami's eyes, he outright made one of Kagami's potential successors in Obito into one of his own instead. That extra layer of pettiness makes Madara into more of a villain.

I mean if you obtained a full susanoo with MS and then over time the more you use susanoo the better it gets, well Itachi would've hade a full susanoo, but he didn't. Didn't each of obito's original Sharingan have a different variation of Kamue? the one he kept affecting himself and what he held, and the one given to Kakashi able to affect things a range? Could he even have had any other abilities when each eye technically already had its own? I know mangyeko can confer up to two abilities (outside of Susanoo) but always looked at the two variations as different abilities despite having the same name due to their differences. I just assumed the genjutsu he used was from any of the number of eyes that were stolen, whether by him or by Madara.

Well in Naruto there are different families or bloodlines in the clans so brothers could be a stretch and just because they have the last name doesn't mean they are related so you kinda right but not completely correct Also if you think about it the body flicker ( it makes the user look like they are teleporting) and kamui (it makes the user look like they are teleporting as well) so I believe they might related in some ways

Isn't it possible that the reason Yagura died from being released is just because of how long he was under it? I don't think we have any examples of someone being put under a genjutsu for years and then being released, the mental stress sounds immense no matter the actual effects of the jutsu.
