The Object 279 may still be strong and have a shape to “resist a nuke”, but there are other tanks that are equally strong, if not stronger, and can resist not just a nuke, but also being thrown into the sun. Those are the American M2A2, the Soviet T-60, the Japanese Ha-Go, the Italian L6/40 or Hungarian Csaba, the French FCM.36, and the Swedish/Finnish Vickers Mk. E. I have a few older Russian books about tank design and engineering, several of which dedicated at least 1 page to Obj 279, and one of which has a 7 page section about Object 279, covering its design and engineering - the purpose of the curvature was to get maximum possible level of protection with plain steel armor while maintaining the smallest volume (and thus - reducing weight). The design of the 279 showed the limit of protection that steel armor could offer and was one of the motivations for Soviet engineers to start designing composite armor with ceramics. None of the older published books say anything about the shape being designed to "prevent roll over" - that was only a "fact" that i have seen quoted in online forums, which eventually made its way to the English language Wikipedia. The 279 did have internal overpressure NBC protection, but so did every Russian tank designed after the T-54 (NBC protection was the defining difference between T-54 and T-55, for instance).

You say that they're trying to nerf it and yet it's on 9.0, not on 9.3 like Khaled(cast armor and rifled gun), MBT-70(spaced armor and HE lobber) and T-64A(autoloader and early composite). Game ignores things like ergonomics, reliability and budget so Obj 279 is just an MBT with massive gun and no HEAT/APDS. So it needs to go to MBTs.
