There are three cases of nouns and pronouns in English: the subjective case, the objective case, and the possessive case. This video focuses on the objective case of pronouns. Pronouns are in the objective case when they function as direct objects of verbs, indirect objects of verbs, or objects of prepositions. A subsequent video will treat the use of the pronoun as the direct object of the verb and as the indirect object of the verb. This video focuses specifically on the use of the pronoun as the object of a preposition. Pronouns that follow a preposition are the objects of such prepositions and are therefore in the objective case.
